Facebook - 10 days of being a Mum/ dog owner whatever

I know I’m turning into a grumpy old woman but these are doing my head in irrationally. What’s it even about “10 days of being a Mum?” It’s just posting 10 photos of your offspring and nominating some other person to do the same. My FB is full of them.

What’s the point? Have I missed something??

OP posts:

A relative who is horrible to her toddler is doing the Mum one. It makes my skin crawl.

1300cakes · 27/05/2020 06:11

I love the idea of telling the truth! I am so going to do it.

Sorry but as pp said, you are about ten years to late for posts about the "truth" about parenthood to be something fresh or shocking, that's all anyone posts now.

Monty27 · 27/05/2020 06:13

10 days ..omg awful 😱

Mothership4two · 27/05/2020 06:42

I asked my kids a long time ago what they felt about me posting photos of them on social media. They both said they wouldn't like it and please don't do it Mum. So I don't or if there is a big (extended) family photo, I ask first.

I don't understand what these 10 days posts are supposed to achieve as most of them seem pretty boring (the photos)

pilates · 27/05/2020 06:45

I am so glad I’m not on Facebook

midnightstar66 · 27/05/2020 06:51

It's just giving people things to do and if like me you only have people you actually like and value on Facebook it's more likely you enjoy seeing their old pictures often of dc you are really fond of or pets you have a bond with and are missing. These posts always make me realise that people must have loads of folk they dislike on fb. I don't even join in these things but I don't mind when anyone does. I enjoy seeing their memories

midnightstar66 · 27/05/2020 06:54

I don't see the point in the raw egg, alcohol shot, and sugar one. It's supposed to show support for all the Key workers. How is that "challenge" showing support.

Maybe they think they're keeping non covid staff busy when they are admitted with salmonella poisoning

Epigram · 27/05/2020 06:56

I like seeing old photos of my FB friends - these challenges just give a reason to post. Maybe you need to reduce your FB list so it only has close friends?

Stuckforthefourthtime · 27/05/2020 06:57

Agree - I quite like seeing the occasional photo pop up as these days so few of my friends really use FB, but the album challenges and 10 days of mum etc are just clutter and annoying.

ComeOnGordon · 27/05/2020 07:05

I don’t post photos on fb so there would be no point tagging me but I laughed at my most attention seeking friend who posted her day 1 of 10 photos that you love (of her two adult daughters) and nominated her 18 year daughter who replied “Mum do you not know me at all - challenges or chain mail die with me” 😂

Redglitter · 27/05/2020 07:06

@StrawberrySquash

It's the no explanation thing I don't get. I just think a bit of context is interesting, especially when it's an album you loved for example. I don't mind the concept of ten things, although I'm not wild about the tagging.
That's my thoughts exactly. If someone posts a photo that's special to them I'd far rather hear the background to it
Sugarpea123 · 27/05/2020 07:06

I was 'nominated' for the album one, Insist ignored it. By getting worked.uo and annoyed your only.doing yourself a disservice. Facebook is used by people for lots of different reasons. If posting albums or photos of dogs/kids is bringing people happiness why can't you just let them get on with it and ignore it? What's worse, photos you don't want to see or moaning over nothing.

Sameold2020 · 27/05/2020 07:13

The worst was 10 days of pictures about loving my husband Envy vom face.

RonObvious · 27/05/2020 07:19

I don’t see why it is always Mums. Not all parents are Mums.

tenlittlecygnets · 27/05/2020 07:20

I agree! I particularly hate the ones deliberately posted for others to tell them how gorgeous they are - can't remember what they were called but urgh.

I quite like the book cover and album ones though.

MintyMabel · 27/05/2020 10:25

That's my thoughts exactly. If someone posts a photo that's special to them I'd far rather hear the background to it

Imagine desert island discs?

“Well, Kirsty. I’ve chosen this song. No explanations”

Whole programme in ten mintures.

DieSchottin93 · 27/05/2020 19:08

I don't mind the album/book/whatever ones, however the parenting ones are irritating, it seems to be the parents that do nothing but post pics of their kids anyway 🙄 luckily I don't have kids and only a handful of my friends do so I've escaped the tagging Grin

StampMc · 27/05/2020 19:18

The language is bonkers.

Nominated

Challenge

Task

And the zero explanation thing as if that makes it zen or something.

I’ve had albums, books, mums (pics of kids), dads (pics of old men), horses, dogs, kids who dance.

I liked the “10 fingers which have influenced me” pisstake.

Candyflosscookie · 27/05/2020 19:33

I also have timeline review set so even if I'm nominated, it won't show on my own feed.

I need to be on FB for part of my business but Lordy it's dull dull dull right now isn't it? All these daft challenges mean I'm scrolling down my feed faster than a Las Vegas slot junkie, spinning for a million.

Zucker · 27/05/2020 19:41

What's the challenge in them? Find a pic in gallery and post.

Ohhhh fun Hmm

Candyflosscookie · 28/05/2020 16:58

@Sameold2020 oh god I've just seen your post about the loving my husband one bleeurgh. That would definitely be into block territory!
