Facebook - 10 days of being a Mum/ dog owner whatever

I know I’m turning into a grumpy old woman but these are doing my head in irrationally. What’s it even about “10 days of being a Mum?” It’s just posting 10 photos of your offspring and nominating some other person to do the same. My FB is full of them.

What’s the point? Have I missed something??

Meh,I don't join in but I can't get worked up about it peop!e are bored there are more of these things going around than usual just ignore them if they bother you so much.

YANBU anyone who does these are needy and sad.

I want to come off it, but can't see how to do so without cocking up access and admin rights to a couple of business pages that I manage. Any ideas how I can do this?

Not a fan of challenges but I also don’t see why people want an explanation for the favourite albums etc? It’s a favourite because they like it, what other explanation do you need 😂 It would be ten times worse if everyone launched into a long boring explanation how they heard the album at their friend’s house when they were 16 and the it really helped them through heartbreak at 18, blah blah...

I don’t get the point of it. 10 pictures/albums with explanation, ok fine, not much my thing but at least it’s saying something about you and your life. 10 pictures of your toddler eating jam or OK Computer - why?

I defriend or unfollow anyone who posts these, or the '10 records/books with no explanation'. I have no interest in whatever mainstream guff my old schoolmate Chris listens to.

I haven't just posted amazing pics of my kids.

I posted a pic of my massive laundry pile.a pic of me holding DD when she came off the ventilator in hospital, she's got a cpap mask all over her face and looks weird and puffy from the drugs she was on. I posted a pic of my gazillion pots of batch cooked food in the freezer. I've got some friends who appreciate this sort of stuff, and they are the ones I tag. It's storytelling, reminiscing etc.

At least they haven't resurrected 'make up free selfies' for 'mental health'.

Never seen so much slap in my life, or flagrant abuse of the word 'beautiful'. It's imperative to point out inner beauty too. 'Beautiful inside and out'.

A friend of mine did the album one, nominated someone who then posted they were too busy and wouldn't do it.

Another friend is doing the mum one but it doesn't say mum, it says 'mumma'.

I have timeline review on so the nomination doesn't even make it onto my page never mind joining in.

I did the mum one, I enjoyed looking back through old photos & choosing ones that reminded me of good/scary/new times.

I also like seeing my friends post similar photos of their children.

I did nominate some friends, most didn’t partake & some did. That’s fine, I understand it not being everyone’s thing.

I'm going to start a 'blank wall challenge'. 10 days, 10 walls, no explanation. Wonder if any of my nominated friends will join in??

I hate when it becomes a “who’s edgy and cool enough to know this obscure band from this weird album cover with NO EXPLANATIONS” 🙄

I like the dog owner one, I love seeing pictures of dogs. The album one is quite fun actually I think as I’m reminded of all these random ones I used to own, it’s quite nostalgic. The mum one is a bit meh - people post pics with their kids all the time so I don’t really see the point in that one.

Like PP have said, it’s the absence of the explanation that’s the most frustrating aspect. Just tell us why you like it!!! And the mummy ones with no details are the worst - why wouldn’t you say why you like the photo and what the memory is? Bizarre .

They’re not a challenge. They’re chain mails masquerading as Facebook posts and I hate chain mails. I never forward them. I’ve been tagged in top 10 films, top 10 mum photos, top 10 albums in the last month alone. They’re pointless nonsense.

I don’t understand them either. I’m also quite proud to have not received a single nomination! I cannot bear these types of things!

I'm quite liking the dog ones plus there's another which is 10 pics of your pony so I get to see my friend’s escape artist pony.

I don't get nominated because I don't have a dog or a pony.

I wouldn’t mind but all the photos have been seen before but we still have to do the obligatory ‘like’. Photos of kids are like photos of holidays .....no ones likes looking at them unless they are your own!

Have been enjoying leaving Facebook behind most days since lockdown but I have seen these. Please tell me what s a mum "glamma"? We have a friend who posts tons of pics of dc with the hashtag #mumglamma??
I m afraid I haven't been nominated but dc are adults anyway and i have spent lockdown in t shirts and old trousers getting our garden nice so I m just not glamma enough

I can't wait to be nominated, there won't be one offspring photo. I've got all the grim stuff ready, c section scar, stretch marks, PND, sleepless nights, dirty nappies the lot. I've not seen one photo yet that has portrayed what being a mum is like. It's not all bells and roses. Not one of a frazzled mum at 8 am trying to feed the tribe, get ready for work, peg the washing out etc etc.

I’ve just been nominated for this. I love the idea of telling the truth! I am so going to do it.

I did the album one and the dog one because I like music and I like posting pics of my dog.

I was doing some on Instagram related to my hobby but I found it a bit much. I used to like doing them but I got fed up of faffing around taking all the pics.

I’ve muted all but one of these. One FB friend took the album challenge and ran with it starting with a really obscure folk duo then spent ten days trying to out do it. It was pretty funny.
