Three am, and it's cuckoo, cuckoo. Bastarding bird looking for a mate with which to produce a satanic love child.
It's either that or burn the tree down.

I heard one the other day. Mind you, it was in the day time when I was walking through the woods.
I'm usually awake at 4, not by choice, and the birds here are giving it their all then. Bastards.

Please do because I woke every night for a week to a bloody cuckoo cuckoo. I mentioned it to Dh would could have the masses pipes and drums of Scotland at the foot of the bed and still not stir. He said he didn’t think a little tweeting could disturb anyone and to wake him up next time to hear it. The cuckoo cuckoo has never been back! Bloody deliberately I don’t doubt. .

I woke at 2:55 with my teeth gritted, and nothing! Just been out weeding the carrots and I can hear it in the far distance. Thank goodness.

I now feel sorry for him, he must be a right ugly bastard and no girls fancy him.

I have been happily using ear plugs for a decade. It’s the answer to night time noise.

VeryLittleOwl · 27/05/2020 20:32

@LittleCandle

Not a cuckoo, because we are too far north for them, but there was a starling (I am reliably told) the other morning at 2.30. Its still dark!!! Luckily for the bird, I had nothing at hand to throw. Mind you, I would probably have missed anyway. Thankfully, it hasn't done it again. Maybe another neighbour has better aim than me...
Where are you, LittleCandle? I can see the Orkney Islands from my back garden. They're not supposed to come this far north, but there are quite a few up here on the north coast of Scotland.
GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 27/05/2020 20:49

Send it here please! It’s years since I heard a cuckoo.

Well I want to do it to my neighbours who seem to think that because they have been furloughed we all have! No I still have to get up at 6am for work so your music till 1am on a week day, barking dogs at 5am or hammering in your garden while it’s still dark outside is REALLY pissing me off. So the mood I’m in just now I’d say catch the bugger and cook it for your dinner!
