So:

• he drove from London to Durham with a 4 year old and didn't stop;
• he has a sister who lives round the corner in London who couldn't help;
• until they went to Durham, they were both working so presumably has access to childcare, but all of a sudden they had no option to drive 250 miles;
• He has conveniently covered every time he has been spotted;
• He drove a 40 mile round trip to a beauty spot to see if his eyesight was good enough to drive.

I think he made a credible attempt at presenting his actions as reasonable, which will satisfy some.

However, it completely ignores the fact that the rest of us didnt have the benefit of weighing up what we thought was reasonable and acting accordingly.
