Boo for Boris

Haplap · 25/05/2020 08:53

There are calls on social media to boo for Boris on tomorrow at 8pm.

AIBU to think this will be a bigger show of support for NHS and essential workers than the clapping?

OP posts:
worzelsnurzel123 · 25/05/2020 08:57

Childish behaviour and a complete embarrassment. It will be completely ineffective and just make the booers look like total muppets and infantile bullies. This is not some kind of pantomime ffs. I’m no Boris fan either!

BlackberryCane · 25/05/2020 08:58

I think the deafening silence in large swathes of the country during that clap for him during his illness was a more appropriate demonstration of feeling than booing would be.

Flowersmiles · 25/05/2020 09:09

How utterly ridiculous! Ffs!
If any of my neighbours do that i will change my Opinion of them! Is this what we have become...Sad

Laaalaaaa · 25/05/2020 09:10

Ha ha get a grip! Sounds pathetic!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 25/05/2020 09:12

I think Boris has behaved appallingly but this idea is absolutely pathetic and people need to get a grip.

nasalspray · 25/05/2020 09:12

Of course you are being unreasonable. Unless you are 5.

Langsdestiny · 25/05/2020 09:13

I dont think it will be effective. I joined the labour party yesterday it seemed the only thing I could do. I think if you dont do something, you are complicit in what is going on. So boo, or join one of the other.parties, or sign the petition , bu

Langsdestiny · 25/05/2020 09:14

So cross I posted prematurelyGrin. People need to do something.

redcarbluecar · 25/05/2020 09:15

Can’t stand him but no way would I take part in something like this. It almost plays into their hands by being easy to dismiss as childish (I didn’t like the Trump baby blimp really, for the same reason). As a PP said, the lack of support for ‘clap for Boris’ is a clear enough message.

Worriedaboutthefuture1 · 25/05/2020 09:16

Grow up. Seriously

AudacityOfHope · 25/05/2020 09:20

Yeah let's stand in the street shouting pantomime boo's at the sky, in reference to someone who a) can't hear you and b) doesn't care.

His actions have literally killed tens of thousands of people. Would you boo Pol Pot, Stalin, Kim Jong Un?

The idea is a fucking embarrassment, and about the 8th thing that's happened in the last week to make me want to emigrate.

returnofthecat · 25/05/2020 09:21

As much as I think the man is a disgrace, I'm not sure I could bring myself to boo at him! However, I will be listening carefully to hear if my neighbours participate. The first Clap for Carers had a surprisingly high number of people clapping along - I wonder if this will be as popular?

x2boys · 25/05/2020 09:23

Anybody who.does this will.look like an absolute pillock🙄

AudacityOfHope · 25/05/2020 09:26

Clapping in the street is cringetastic, booing is so much worse

redcarbluecar · 25/05/2020 09:35

I'm looking forward to the day when nobody suggests that I use my own doorstep as a platform to show my feelings about ANYTHING.

DdraigGoch · 25/05/2020 09:41

Did the Outer Party of Oceania tell you to do this OP?

AudacityOfHope · 25/05/2020 09:42

Exactly @redcarbluecar

I declined to join my local village Coronavirus group when i saw the top post was someone expressing their 'disappointment' that not enough of her neighbours could take the time to clap on Thursday evenings.

Fuck. Off. Doris.

JudyCoolibar · 25/05/2020 09:48

I think it would be much more effective to write to conservative MPs.

TheGinGenie · 25/05/2020 09:49

The best things you can do if you don't support Johnson or Cummings is write to your MP about it (especially if they are Tory) and vote for other parties at the next election (even though there's a bit of a wait for this)

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 25/05/2020 09:51

Bloody hell what do you think this country will gain by turning on its leader in the middle of a pandemic.
You vote for someone else during the election like civilised people.
There's a time and a place , honestly.

NameChange84 · 25/05/2020 09:53

Standing in your garden booing like a 5 year old at pantomime is not how you bring about positive change.

Dumbie · 25/05/2020 09:54

Yabu

If it goes ahead, it's not a show of support for the nhs, more a reflection of the boredom of the british public. And possibly idiocy.

Why does 2 minutes of noise represent 'support' these days?

I hope I'm not embarrassed to be British tomorrow night.

NiknicK · 25/05/2020 09:58

Well, I certainly won’t be taking part. Don’t get me wrong I’m not a Boris supporter, but as far as I’m concerned anyone who takes part in this is petty and needs to grow the hell up. Boris made the decision to stand by DC and I get that some people don’t agree with that, but acting out like a petulant child will make no difference.

Inoneminute · 25/05/2020 10:00

Even more cringey than the clapping but I am half hoping it takes off here, where working class people gave the Torys a huge majority.

I won't be partaking.

pontypridd · 25/05/2020 10:01

I won’t do it. But I support anyone who does.

If there was no virus I’d be out protesting. We all should.
