Re: Dominic Cummings

In response to the fresh claims, Downing Street said: "Yesterday the Mirror and Guardian wrote inaccurate stories about Mr Cummings.

"Today they are writing more inaccurate stories including claims that Mr Cummings returned to Durham after returning to work in Downing Street on 14 April.

"We will not waste our time answering a stream of false allegations about Mr Cummings from campaigning newspapers."

The utter ARROGANCE of it. Reassuring the public that a senior member of government isn't a lying corrupt twunt isn't a waste of time. It is actually breathtaking how little they seem to care about public opinion.

It’s the guy who tried to make out their DS would be taken into “state care” if they became very ill/hospitalised. As if!! GrinGrinGrin

(Doggo means to remain motionless).

You don’t say.

Shapps squirming on Sophie ridge this morning was a joy to watch. He tried getting one over on her and telling her what she should and shouldn’t be asking but she nailed it at the end of the interview by closing with “thanks for joining us this morning and for the job tips” - it was brilliant.

itsgettingweird · 24/05/2020 15:24

‘But 24 hours later he said ‘I feel weird’ and collapsed. I felt breathless, sometimes achy, but Dom couldn’t get out of bed. Day in day out he lay doggo for ten days he had a high fever, with spasms that made the muscles lump and twitch in his legs. He could breathe but only in a limited shallow way. After a week we reached peak corona uncertainty, day six is a turning point I was told, when you either get better or head for ICU. Was Dom fighting off the bug or was he heading for a ventilator, who knew?

Wow. We should be praising the man. He's a hero for driving 260 miles whilst suffering like this. Wink

Standupthisisnotateaparty · 24/05/2020 15:27

I don't think anyone has died because of what he did

There is no way of knowing this or where he stopped on the way.
Besides this other people who may otherwise of obeyed the lockdown will now think bugger it. This will kill people.

The government uses ‘we are all in it together’ as a tool and will rely on this in the next few years as recession hits. For this alone they need to get rid of him.

I doubt they will. I think he has a lot of say and probably more than a fair share of dirt on Bojo.

It's not an expression I've ever heard before* - I had to google it just to make sure that I hadn't misunderstood!

  • Every time I've heard 'doggo', it's been twee internet slang for a dog...
MaxNormal · 24/05/2020 15:30

I suppose "baying for blood" is code for not dutifully shutting up just because it's rather awkward for Downing Street.
They've been contemptuous in their response. Their senior advisor has done basically whatever he felt like and they've told the rest of us that that is entirely fine. It's not. It's not okay at all.
They have made fools of every person who has suffered due to this lockdown.

ArgumentativeAardvaark · 24/05/2020 16:24

I think doggo might be an army term. My Dad used to use it when I was a kid “look, Mummy’s doggo on the settee, don’t wake her up”. I think he got it from his Dad, who served in WW2.

MeganBacon · 24/05/2020 16:35

The way he ran away from DS and ran to mummy and daddy tells us everything we need to know about this man.
These sorts of comments just make me think you say this because you don't like him. I don't like him either, but I bet many people reading these threads have relied on their parents occasionally, without that being a comment on their character. I agree he is going to have to go, but it's because no-one supports him apart from BJ. He's one of those people who want to control but doesn't want to be in the firing line answerable to the pubic, and in my mind that's his greatest crime and the reason everyone's piling in on him now. But I would at least call it for what it is.

Zaphodsotherhead · 24/05/2020 17:45

'Lying doggo' - to me means lying inert and almost 'playing dead' hoping not to be noticed..

StoneofDestiny · 24/05/2020 19:24

I don't think anyone has died because of what he did

How do you know?
How do you know he didn't pass his infection on and make people ill?

Either way, he clearly didn't give a second thought for the well-being of others.
Johnson and Cummings - vile, obnoxious people with no moral compass between them.
