How do we get rid of this government?

They've been pretty poor throughout the Covid crisis.

But the Cummings fiasco is the last straw.

Do we really have to put up with this lot for another five years?

'
But why is the government wanting a no deal Brexit when we are already heading for a recession or more likely a depression?

Surely the government is worried about this.'

Haha. Of course they aren't worried. They don't give a fuck about anyone except themselves.

Jacob Rees mogg dad literally wrote a book about disaster capitalism. The more chaos, the more opportunity.

And they are all extremely wealthy so cushioned when it all goes tits up.

AuntyRigsby · 24/05/2020 00:58

What will posters here do when they've finally stopped blaming Corbyn for everything the tories have done over the last few years??

I'm not aware that they ever did!

strugglingwithdeciding · 24/05/2020 01:03

@sad independence but still want to be in eu , don't get that

Op vote of no confidence unlikely when a majority government and do you really think any opposition leader wants to deal with all this at the moment , because dammed if you do and damned if you don't really
Also re : Brexit again we live in a democratic country the majority won wether people agree with that or not
People have had to live through many governments they personally may not agree with but you have your time for say at election time

Disquieted1 · 24/05/2020 01:03

@Lockheart - no arrows aimed at you. You were just giving facts about the process. Apologies if you thought that I was having a pop.

Back to the thread:
A pp said "Anyone who supported Corbyn as leader of Labour should hang their head in shame as much as anyone who voted for Johnson."

So anyone who voted Labour or Conservative should hang their head in shame. How were they to cast their vote? Plaid Cymru?

ssd · 24/05/2020 01:04

You must have just joined mn then.

ssd · 24/05/2020 01:05

What's not to get, independence from the UK but still in the EU?
we don't want independence from the EU. Just Westminster.

Lockheart · 24/05/2020 01:07

Apologies @Disquieted1, it's late and I misinterpreted!

ShinyFootball · 24/05/2020 01:11

If I were a Scot I'd vote to leave UK no question. And stay in EU. Of course it's not inconsistent. Read some history books.

MrsDeltaB · 24/05/2020 01:13

Bill or Ted, George or Zippy, Ant or Dec, Daddy or Chips.

WHOEVER or WHAT party they stand for, who in hell on earth could get THIS right? It hasn't happened before and hope to whoever you believe in it won't happen again. There is no textbook or examples to be followed.

Can the willy waving stop now please?

Allmyeye · 24/05/2020 01:13

The government might have been following the science to begin with but they’re not now. They’re prepared to lie about it and it’s obvious from the daily briefings alone that it doesn’t sit well with the scientists.

Whether you support schools opening or not the point is they were banging on about five tests being satisfied first but now those tests aren’t quite so important and the vital track and trace system that had to be in place first isn’t so vital after all.

After the election Boris thanked voters who wouldn’t normally vote Tory and said he would repay their trust. I almost believed him for a minute.

Did you vote Tory? Grin

KKSlider · 24/05/2020 01:18

@ssd If Scotland were to go independent, I'd move one hour North to put myself.over the border and join you all.

Disquieted1 · 24/05/2020 01:19

"If I were a Scot I'd vote to leave UK no question. And stay in EU."

So you would vote for an absolute impossibility? If Scotland leaves the UK it does not have the option to stay in the EU, Brexit or no Brexit. It would have to join the queue and apply for membership as an independent nation.

ShinyFootball · 24/05/2020 01:29

Sure, and what's wrong with that?

Disquieted1 · 24/05/2020 01:43

Is this one of those late night MN threads?

If your vote to leave the UK is successful, there is absolutely no way, not till hell freezes over, not in my lifetime, any chance whatsoever that you will be able to vote on staying in the EU. Because you can't stay in something that you're not in!

As an independent nation Scotland can apply for membership but it can not choose to stay in.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 24/05/2020 01:56

Ah the old EU 'queue' myth rears it's tiresome head, yet again.

There is no 'queue'. Nations ascend to EU status as and when they meet the criterion. Scotland already does.

Next up - 'Spanish Veto', 'Forced to join the Euro', 'EU army'. All total horseshit that's been dis-proven and rubbished by the EU themselves.

Pixxie7 · 24/05/2020 02:16

Not a Tory supporter by any means and agree with most of what has been said. However we don’t know that the others would be doing a better job.

TylluanBach · 24/05/2020 02:19

Mr Drakeford is dire.

PrimeroseHillAnnie · 24/05/2020 02:22

At least he’s not dragging into a illegal war !

JetSetGo · 24/05/2020 02:24

Wait until the next general election amd vote for another party (who wont win anyway)

OpthalmosVerde · 24/05/2020 02:42

How is the mood within the Tory party itself about the government/cabinet/Cummings fiasco? Are the back benches happy they are being represented in this way? The party membership?

I don’t know many people IRL who openly vote Conservative to ask.

flashbac · 24/05/2020 02:45

Yanbu op but there are a lot of bojo fangirls on Mumsnet that will call you a remoaner, corbynista etc.
Apparently a shameless, lying, self-serving bunch of incompetent buffoons is nothing to see here folks. The fact that they got in via dodgy means is also fine. Russia report suppressed? Cool, etc ad nauseam.
It makes you truly despair.

RainMustFall · 24/05/2020 02:51

Someone on another thread has said they think there'll be an Interim government by the end of next week ...

No

Is no one else scared for the future of this country under this current government? I've never felt so concerned - to put it mildly.

No

LagunaBubbles · 24/05/2020 02:54

Also, could someone fill me in on why people aren't keen on Nicola Sturgeon? I don't really pay much attention to Scottish politics, but from what I've seen of her during the pandemic nice been really impressed, am I missing something

Some people aren't keen, with the emphasis on some. Just the usual anti independence posters that can't stand the SNP are the Scottish Government. She could personally find a cure for this virus and you would still find them slagging her off and calling her Nippy.

Ratasha · 24/05/2020 03:02

You wont get them out until the next election, by which time the country will be fucked for a generation at least.
