And why?

My last line manager. She talked the talk, never once came through on it, tho, refused to support me when going through stuff at work and ensured that I was shoved out rather than trying to support me in any way. She could very easily have helped but refused, asked me to jump through impossible hoops and undermined me at every turn, then looked surprised when I objected! The guy who took my job after I made haste to leave continuously slags her off and hates her with a passion. He’s delighted to be changing roles slightly and therefore changing managers, he text me yesterday crowing about it!

Firefretted · 22/05/2020 21:39

@WhiteWriting Off topic but what career did you have that was filled with charming, erudite people? It gives me hope to know that such a thing exists!

Kraejka · 22/05/2020 21:41

My ex's mother and sister. Never have I met such awful, obnoxious people as them. I don't know how any human being can be so full of hate. I suffered non-stop bullying of the vilest kind from them.

50shadesoflunacy · 22/05/2020 21:47

Two female lawyers that I have had the misfortune of working with. Both utterly vile, I am quite sure one is a bona fide psychopath. The other has one of the biggest egos I have ever encountered, not to mention a gargantuan chip on her shoulder. She bullied me out of my job that I loved. She doesn't stay in one place long - wonder why?

OldSpeclkledHen · 22/05/2020 21:52

Me. I'm a wanker and a cunt rolled into one.

thegreylady · 22/05/2020 21:59

A well liked and respected academic. I worked with her when I was a senior examiner. Whenever she saw me one to one she was unbelievably offensive but to everyone else she was lovely.
She was diagnosed with terminal cancer and wrote me a letter of apology saying I looked rather like someone who had bullied her when she was young and she couldn’t resist getting her own back. She was 20+ years older than me and hurt me very much.

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 22/05/2020 22:03

Nick Griffin and entourage.

Utterly vile man.

Disgusting older members of family too.

WhiteWriting · 22/05/2020 22:04

@firefretted it was publishing!

My aunt. She’s a cunt.

A student I was mentoring who tried to lecture me on "how he'd rather do it". He'd been in my department for 4 days, no prior experience. I've been there 15 years and am very good at my job.

Another member of staff reported to me that he'd been doing something completely unacceptable so I spoke to him about it (nicely, I thought). He went home, quit his placement via email, told the uni placement coordinator we were arrogant, overly-critical and patronising. Tried to raise a formal complaint about us. It didn't go very far, thankfully.

I still get furious when I think about him.

MsTSwift · 22/05/2020 22:12

A senior partner at dh and I old job. He was like a pantomime villain, American vain and really really mean. He used to scoff at men “still on their first wives” as losers. He had upgraded twice obviously. He was serially unfaithful to his third wife and would laugh heartily if anything bad happened to anyone else. One of his sayings was “you are on my team I am not in yours”. He was universally loathed by fellow partners and juniors alike.

True story.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 22/05/2020 22:23

My upstairs neighbour from 1988 to 1994. She was a single City worker with plenty of money and an alcohol problem. I still have dreams about her now occasionally. She was the worst person I have ever met.

bitofafunnyquestion · 23/05/2020 07:26

A really horrendous owner of a small law firm I interned at.

A vile, screaming, profane, narcissistic bully who revelled in being in a position of power over staff and clients (once she had taken their money!). The only one she wasn't awful to was the other solicitor who had worked for her since the start only because she handled most of the case load and the owner knew she would be screwed without her, so she could control herself when she really needed to.

I think she could have really expanded as there was a real demand for her area of the law in the area but it was hard for her to take on more than a certain amount of work due to the constant revolving door of staff walking out or being sacked. She would also suck up to the richest clients.

I think it was due to real narcissism which led to a genuine belief that nobody could be trusted to do the job as well as her.

TreeTopTim · 23/05/2020 08:16

An ex colleague. She was just a two faced bitch. Sucked up to the bosses but was horrible to everyone else.

I loved that job but hated her so I left.

justilou1 · 23/05/2020 08:16

My neighbours when I lived overseas. They were antisocial, racist bullies who spent their days drinking and smoking pot and making the lives of everyone in the street utterly miserable. They also had the most ill-mannered kids who stole from, hit, spat on my kids - you name it. Then constantly asked to borrow things. Our street was extremely multicultural, and when we had parties to celebrate various festivals, birthdays, etc... they called the police when they weren’t invited!

YgritteSnow · 23/05/2020 08:21

My ex FIL. Rude, aggressive, judgmental bully. His son isn't far behind. They both hate me and are needled by me because I got out of the marriage and didn't shack up with someone else so am fair game for their on going bullying even though we've been divorced for a decade.

Juststopit · 23/05/2020 08:28

My ex fil. A racist, homophobic, sexist, grumpy old man with zero sense of humour and no education. His son was slowly turning into him so I left.

Lordamighty · 23/05/2020 08:34

A woman who worked in the local Post Office. Her rudeness was spectacular, especially to any elderly customers unfortunate enough to encounter her.
There were even letters printed in the local paper about her.

SpillTheTeaa · 23/05/2020 08:53

My BIL. He just thinks he's so much better than everyone else and looks down on me mainly like I'm some sort of peasant. We've had a few arguments mainly because I called him out on his bullshit. He also said mean stuff about my unborn baby when I was pregnant. Of course, the sun shines out of his arse and according to everyone I was over reacting. Still don't talk to him now. He can fuck right off.

SpillTheTeaa · 23/05/2020 08:55

My sister who is married to the twat has turned just as bad. It's all Me,me,me. The latest was her trying to tell me what I should do for DC's first birthday and telling me I need to hurry up and let everyone know. We're in lockdown love. Fuck off. She can also do no wrong and is very sly and nasty.

rosegoldwatcher · 23/05/2020 08:58

My ex-job share person. She undermined me whenever she could, bullied members of my team when I wasn't in, regularly passed off my ideas as her own and co-opted MY assistant (who was a similar nasty cow) to report to her things that I and my team were doing.
I stood it for 2 years by which time the job, which I had loved previously, was intolerable.
When I told my team that I was going to another school, their reaction was one of, "You can't leave us with her!" and one said, "Can you take me with you?"

5 years on she can suddenly pop into my mind and I feel murderous. Then I tell myself that I never have to see, listen or speak to her again!
If by any chance she is a Mumsnetter and recognises the situation - yes I am talking about you sociopath.

AmandaHoldensLips · 23/05/2020 09:09

My exH. I hope he dies a hideously long and painful death.

oldspaniel · 23/05/2020 09:17

What awful behaviour, scoobydoo's example makes me despair. The most awful person I knew was a teacher at school who bullied me mercilessly, I was very small for my age and was so shy I could barely speak for embarrassment. I was completely terrified of her and would have panic attacks when she would scream at me. I didn't know what the panic attacks were, I just would nearly pass out with fear. She was the cookery teacher and a vile, bitter woman who got some kick out of throwing my ingredients across the room, shouting in my ear, asking if I had visited a doctor because I was so small, punishing me for imagined misbehaviour. I expect she's dead now, I've had to work on forgiveness and it's helped the trauma of five years of Hell.
