My main strategy for getting through lockdown is pretending it's the latter part of 2008 as this was a time that was very difficult and bleak for me but the following years my life improved beyond all recognition. I download music from 2008, even read all the mumsnet Chat threads from 2008!! I know I'm a random sentimental old fool but it's helping to give me hope at this difficult time!
So, in a world where we are all 12 years younger, hope you all have a great day!!

Just had the results of an amniocentesis. Good news. He's 11 now Smile

Settle59 · 22/05/2020 11:05

Devlesko - sorry to hear that. I think nowadays 40 is young to have lost both parents. Glad that otherwise life seemed to change for the better for you.

Hmmm. Oct 2008. First novel published at the end of that September. My long term illness was behaving itself. I'd lost a load if weight and, after 13 years bringing up my daughter alone, I was falling in love with my wonderful husband.
So yeah good times. Smile

Mythica · 22/05/2020 11:09

In that case I can't go clubbing as I'm 16 but I'm having a ball having just started 6th form.

TrickyWords · 22/05/2020 11:13

DD3 starts school next week I think. IRL she has just (not) started GCSEs! Blink of an eye.

snowybean · 22/05/2020 11:14

I'm 20 and just started work at the bookshop. I will soon be paid for the first time in a few months so I'm going to buy shoes and a coat shortly!

Longdistance · 22/05/2020 11:18

I’m newly married and dh and I are in Club class flying to Hong Kong for a break away. They were the days when I got one Club class ticket a year. I just sit in peasant class and froth at the mouth now 😂

Warsawa31 · 22/05/2020 11:21

I’m 21 in great shape, living in a rented room in a house full of hippies and stoners of which I was very much one! Rubbish job but life is fun anyway

Tombero · 22/05/2020 11:27

DD is a few weeks old. It’s hard but good. We’re doing daily physio for her Erbs palsy. I’d forgotten all about that until this thread as she’s now completely sorted and as tall as me 😂

TheDogsMother · 22/05/2020 11:33

Oct 2008 was a fragile time for me as I'd recently split with ex H and lost my part in a business. I had moved into my own little house though, started a small business and had been seeing DP about 10 months. I felt emotionally a bit battered but it was a new beginning. Fast forward to now, DP and I have a lovely house together and should have been getting married on 9th May. Smile

Settle59 · 22/05/2020 11:35

Tombero - that's excellent news of your DD's recovery!

trappedsincesundaymorn · 22/05/2020 11:45

Yaay me and DD are off to Disneyland Paris it's going to be the best (and last Sad ) holiday we've ever had with just the 2 of us.

LetTheSecretOut · 22/05/2020 11:45

I am on maternity with DD, that will do for me!

Toothsil · 22/05/2020 11:46

I'm 32, been married for 3 years, working in a job I hate, and trying for our first baby.

GrizzlebumsMum · 22/05/2020 11:51

I’m in my early thirties and preparing for my wedding in two months time to my now husband. Given that he told me this morning for the nth time that he hates me and wishes I’d leave to go live with my mum I think I’ll go back and tell myself to quit while I’m ahead and get rid. But then I wouldn’t have my gorgeous cheeky cuddly little boy so perhaps not.

Standupthisisnotateaparty · 22/05/2020 11:53

Iv been in my first full time teaching job for a month. It’s going well.

RonObvious · 22/05/2020 11:55

It's my third year of university, and I turned 30 yesterday. Not sure I like this game.

Settle59 · 22/05/2020 11:56

GrizzlebumsMum - sorry to hear of your struggles but lovely to hear about your little boy!
