To be outraged at this price increase?

I was reading an article the other day about baby formula prices and how families struggle to afford it then today I have noticed several shops have increased the price of all the Aptamil products.

I assume other brands will follow and it just seems outrageous with the current crisis and so many people getting less or no pay.

A lot of companies seem to be cashing in on the fact supplies are running low of certain items so AIBU to think Aptamil have jumped on that bandwagon or is this an innocent, albeit poorly timed, price increase in line with inflation?

Some companies are having to pay for temps to complete orders, as they're behind due to shielding/isolating. Also, it's cost shops to put safety screens up, PPE for staff. It's costing money to have an extra member of staff on the door, one directing customers one at a time to tills. Some shops aren't getting so many customers - where I work we have to take £5000 per day to break even, that figure is rarely being met. For all the above reasons, I think a lot of items will go up in price.

Please don't reply saying fed is best take it from a Mom of a tube fed baby/child. It absolutely is. Yes there might be "nutritionally betters" but what matters is they're fed.

My milk with the twins didn't come on till day 5, we were cup feeding formula so I could bf until t2s sugars massively dropped and we conceded defeat and gave him a bottle. I pumped for a while once it was in but if I'd insisted on only bf they'd have been very poorly babies

We all have enough problems right now without these types of shitty judgements to deal with.

But people who talk about breastfeeding online crave attention and medals?

#BeKind Hmm

God I hate people who twist any thread vaguely relating to feeding a child into a breast is best rant! And I say this as someone who breast fed! Not your child, not your decision..wind ya neck in!

DickKerrLadies · 23/05/2020 19:22

No-one has actually said that breast is best, other than to say how shit it is.

But hey, what's that matter?

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/05/2020 19:24

I SPECIFICALLY SAID BREAST IS BEST IS NONSENSE. MORE THAN ONCE.

It's not actually my fault if people can't tell the difference between practical considerations and moral judgments. I couldn't give a shit if people BF or FF. But if you are complaining about formula prices, there being a free alternative for many might just be slightly relevant.

Pacmanitee · 23/05/2020 19:33

It's a thread about the price of formula going up, absolutely no need for any mention of breastfeeding is there. Lets not turn it into an unnecessary and teedious bunfight.

If it was a thread for someone monitoring the prices during pregnancy, then perhaps, yes. On this thread, no, there is absolutely no need.

This. @MrsTerryPratchett, you're being goady and you know it. Even if this were a pregnancy thread, there is not a pregnant woman out there who doesn't know that breastfeeding is an option - you're fooling no one by dressing it up as "helping".
