I was laying down with my 6 week old baby in my arms and I was on my phone looking at jobs as we’re in a stressful situation atm. My phone slipped out of my hands and dropped on my baby’s head! :( it’s an iPhone 11 so it’s heavy. He cried for a second and I soothed him and stopped. I can’t feel a bump or see a mark but I’m worried it was on his soft spot. I’m so scared I’m going to cause him brain damage or he’s not going to wake in the morning. My anxiety is already so bad as it is :(

I've done this many times, with both children. They're both fine.

Try not to worry, I'm sure hes fine. Flowers

Rhodri · 19/05/2020 20:08

We’ve all done this 😂

thaegumathteth · 19/05/2020 20:08

I did exactly this more than once with both my kids. They're fine.

CherryPavlova · 19/05/2020 20:09

He’ll be fine. Babies are remarkably resilient. He might be more fretful if he picks up your worrying. Sit on sofa, have a cuddle, sing a lullaby.
We’ve all dropped things - sometimes the baby itself. They roll off things, Toddlers fall over. They survive.

Sexnotgender · 19/05/2020 20:09

I’ve done this so many times Blush

VodkaCranberry2 · 19/05/2020 20:09

Even with a baby so young? If it went on his soft spot would anything happen? I’m not sure what they’re supposed to feel like so I’m scared I’ve done damage!

Yes. Welcome to the large, illustrious club.

MissClarke86 · 19/05/2020 20:10

I’ve also done this before. Honestly babies are WAY hardier than you think they are!

Lockdownlover · 19/05/2020 20:11

Don’t worry!! They’re resilient. I’m currently typing with a 6 month old asleep in my arms. Said baby wanted to be breastfed during dinner so ended up with spaghetti Bolognese on his head. I then licked it off much to his confusion Grin

LemonySippet · 19/05/2020 20:11

I dropped my kindle fire on my baby's head, because I didn't have a smartphone in them days. Much heavier than a smartphone. Chill! No harm, no foul. We've all been there Flowers

SquishySquirmy · 19/05/2020 20:12
Flowers Please be kind to yourself. It happens. It is very very very very unlikely to have injured him - if he was hurt he would have cried for longer than a second before being soothed! Keep an eye on him, check he is still feeding as normal and not sleeping more than usual etc. He will be fine! I accidentally whacked my baby's head on a door frame when I was sleep deprived and lacking in spatial awareness 😩. Felt awful, but she was fine.
TinyTornado · 19/05/2020 20:14

Others have already said it, but this has happened to many of us- including me! Babies are much tougher than you think.

Roisin80 · 19/05/2020 20:17

Done this also on more than one child (not at the same time Grin), they're all perfectly fine!

TheMandalorian · 19/05/2020 20:18

Wait until he unexpectedly learns to roll off the bed next week.
We've all done similar.

Justmuddlingalong · 19/05/2020 20:18

DS was once pelted with a bag of frozen peas. He was very new and I was still getting used to pushing a pram. I thought I was pushing a trolley round the supermarket and launched them in. He didn't even stir.
These things happen all the time, don't stress about it.
Congratulations on your little boy. 💐

SodaSloth · 19/05/2020 20:19

My DS was about 3 months old he rolled of the bed, at 4 I pressed the button to close lift door and squashed his fingers, when he was 6ish I caught his fingers in the very heavy iron door that leads from the block of flats to outside!
When my DD was 1 ish I was redecorating a put a heavy oblong mirror against the wall and fell on top of her!

And countless times I've sent them to school because I thought they weren't ill only to get the dreaded call that they've thrown up.. My DD threw up all over the other kids pack lunches.

SunlightBlazing · 19/05/2020 20:20

Yep dropped a phone on 5 day old DD's head... she cried for a minute, burped, and went back to sleep.
I watched her like a hawk all that night

6 years later, she's absolutely fine

chunkyrun · 19/05/2020 20:20

Door frames! Constantly bumping him into them walking through doors

Drivingdownthe101 · 19/05/2020 20:20

I have done this so many times across the life span of my three children. And when younger than 6 weeks too!
You’d have thought I’d have learned after the first time...

SideEyeing · 19/05/2020 20:21

I did this when DD was four weeks. Then spent ages dropping it on my own head to see how much it hurt. She'll be fine - seriously. I panicked for ages and needn't have worried.

SideEyeing · 19/05/2020 20:21

Also it was a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 - basically an anvil.

RoLaren · 19/05/2020 20:23

Justmuddlingalong That made me laugh! OP, the brain is covered by a tough membrane which protects it, even at the soft spot. Don't worry, you'll do worse before your child grows up. Congratulations on reaching level 2 parenting Smile

MuthaClucker · 19/05/2020 20:24

Wait until he unexpectedly learns to roll off the bed next week

Yep, that very specific sound of baby head striking the carpet. Heard it more than once Blush

DivGirl · 19/05/2020 20:24

I nearly decapitated mine with a doorframe. He's fine.

hm246 · 19/05/2020 20:24

Ohhh been there done that.
please Don’t worry Flowers
