To make a pie out of the Magpie

That’s flying around my garden screeching?

At least I think it’s a magpie. Big, blue and black. Could be tasty with the right seasoning.

I saw an actual RAT on my neighbours drive. We get the red kites here too and between them and my fucking lazy overfed cat I don't see how a rat is surviving.

If you are going to bake any birds in a pie, I would like a extended discussion of the merits of various forms of pastry.

Devlesko
Hedgehog? Really? Is there much meat on that?

I take DS to feed ducks locally. I casually suggested to DH that once they are nicely plump, he could pop over one evening and bag one. He seemed to think we couldn't do this - but dammit i've been fattening those birds for weeks, I've earned it

I saw an actual RAT on my neighbours drive.

Hardly surprising though ?

I live in the countryside. All the birds tound here sound like an ariel Jurassic fucking Park. YANBU.
Was on a Teams meeting with a colleague earlier, she was outside and her bIrds were tweeting like an angelic choir.

Don't eat predators. That's what got us into this mess.

PickAChew · 20/05/2020 21:38

Perfectly justified. Antisocial bastards, they are. Cowardly shits, too. Our neighbourhood collared dove went up in my estimation after scaring a pair of them off, pretty much by pulling faces at them.

PickAChew · 20/05/2020 21:42

@Alloftheboys we have squirrel proof feeders which foil all but the most acrobatic corvids. Even the jackdaw that has mastered hanging upside down and pecking at the bottom fat ball can't take more than its fair share.

gingganggooleywotsit · 20/05/2020 22:27

yabu to moan about the noise of birds singing, or screeching as you put it. Love to hear any birds in my garden! Gets you back to nature, innit.

JaneJeffer · 20/05/2020 22:49

I love my garden magpies. They were chasing the dog the other day doing that bouncy thing they do. Dog usually goes nuts at birds but he let them right up beside him.

Lordfrontpaw · 20/05/2020 22:50

I love their cackle! My sister has a farm and they are not liked there!

Furries · 20/05/2020 23:26

You can have the pheasant that somehow found it’s way into my conservatory - that should make a few good portions of pie!

Daft thing couldn’t figure how to turn around and walk back out through the doors and was flinging itself at the windows. Not sure if you’ve seen the talons on it’s feet, but it’s not something you want to get close to - was an interesting procedure to safely encourage it out.
