What is it like?

Did you ever drink?

Would love to hear from all perspectives; people that never did, only do very occasionally, used to drink but quit.

Used to be the worst binge drinker ever. Had a child 8 years ago. Probably only had less than 40 units in 8 years. No interest in it what so ever. Drinking has caused me so much trouble in the past. It’s not a place I’d ever want to go again. It could be banned and I wouldn’t notice for months.

I used to drink, enjoyed it but I stopped (among other things) shortly after a PCOS diagnosis and trying to conceive as I wanted to rule out as much as I could before going to my GP to ask for help. It's been nearly 3 years now, and two children later, and I've just gotten used to it so I don't intend on having a drink any time soon. No issues with anyone around me drinking though.

Yes, you are included! I’m more likely to drink occasionally like you than to stop completely. Was just curious about the range.

I've never been a massive drinker as I don't like the feeling of being out of control drunk. Used to enjoy the odd glass of wine or G&T. Haven't really drink for almost 2 years now, as I've developed a neurological disease and whilst drinking isn't medically contraindicated, my balance is so poor that I don't feel safe with the idea of having alcohol.

Have had a very small drink on two occasions in the past 2 years. Do enjoy an alcohol free beer though, Moretti Zero is my favourite.

I used to like going to the pub for a pint of cider, but when I quit smoking I realised that I didn't actually like drinking without the fags.

Used to drink fairly regularly (binge drank in my youth, then would often drink at home on weekends to unwind in my late 20s). Then got pregnant 7 years ago, so stopped drinking and just got out of the habit. Lack of sleep once my DD1 was born meant that I had no desire to drink and ruin my sleep even more (it always really badly interrupted my sleep). Would still occasionally drink, but having a hangover with a small child is no joke, so seemed to naturally limit how much I drank without consciously doing so. Had another baby, so another bout of giving up drinking for pregnancy. Would still occasionally drink on a weekend but then got very into running/exercise in order to lose baby weight, realised how many calories were in alcohol and how it affected my exercise at the weekend, so gradually just stopped, apart from the odd drink every few months. Got pregnant again and so am now tee total again and don't really think I'll go back. I'm quite content to go out for a meal and drink soft drinks, and I don't need alcohol to unwind on an evening, so would rather just avoid the extra calories and strain on my liver 😊

So basically, over a long period of time I got used to not drinking when I would go out, and not drinking at home, and at various times actively couldn't drink for medical reasons (pregnancy), before realising I was healthier and happier without it, didn't miss it, so why bother with it?

I used to drink in my teens/20s it all got a bit out of control so I stopped. A couple of examples - turning up for work at 8.30 at night as I thought it was 08.30 in the morning (had drunk myself unconscious by 3pm then woken up thinking it was morning). Hitting a total stranger in the pub and he in turn decking me. Anyhow haven't drunk for 25 years, don't even "fancy" a drink, the only problem I have is others thinking I am strange but usually just say I am driving as it's easier.
