Just this? We have bee. In lockdown for 8wks. That’s 8wks of social distancing etc. Why is this a sudden shock to schools? Did school leaders and unions think we could return as usual after an international pandemic or just never go back? I appreciate this is unprecedented times, and that your regular school leadership team aren’t six sigma logistics gurus, and more so that many schools don’t have space etc for social distancing- but the move to bring kids back. is not a shock- it was going to happen sometime and would need to be different in some way. There are literally 1000s of teachers ‘working from home’- they cannot all be marking, many are on Rotas for key worker children support- hasn’t ANYONE thought or wondered what to do when kids return?

Actually some have been working on various different models and going back at various different times with various different year groups. As ever a generalisation.

I work in a couple bide and we have been delivering Zoom lessons in real time for the whole time we have Ben off (is obviously not in the Easter holidays. Some teachers were furloughed because cannot delivery DT, Art, Drama effectively but all academic lessons as normal. The pupils adjusted quickly, we have pretty much 100% attendance, work submitted and marked online. I want to get back into the classroom ASAP by the SLat have decided that all the rigmarole around 'social distancing' means that we can be effective continuing with this method till we break up for summer at the end of June. Sad, but better than craziness with 'PPE , half classes and all the other half/arsed stuff the unions are demanding.
