I can hear an ice cream van stalking the street.

AIBU to think this is a worrying sign?

I remember in Happy Valley the ice cream van had a dual trade of milk based treats and drug based ones.

Thighmageddon · 16/05/2020 13:32

Spartacus It's been on the news that the dealers have got more creative but there's still supplies.

vanillandhoney · 16/05/2020 13:32

Why, what's the problem?

Takeaways are allowed to operate, surely ice-cream vans fall under the same category as say, Costa or McDonald's?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 16/05/2020 13:35

OP, why is it a worrying sign? What frightens you about the ice cream van?

Are you aware that it's not compulsory for you to buy ice cream if the van stops in your street? And that it's equally permitted for other people to buy ice cream if they want to?

NameChange84 · 16/05/2020 13:35

There was one out here during the NHS clap this week Hmm

LuckyMarmiteLover · 16/05/2020 13:36

Wish it would come passed me!

BarkandCheese · 16/05/2020 13:41

AIBU to think this is a worrying sign?

Is it foretold somewhere that a tinny rendition of Greensleeves is the sound which ushers in the apocalypse?

ParkheadParadise · 16/05/2020 13:44

Wish we had a ice cream van🍦🍦

In my hometown the van sold everything. I can remember going round all the neighbours asking if they had any empty ginger bottles, so we could take them to the van later on🤣🤣. Bottle of irn bru and a 10p mix up

Mmmmm - I wonder what they are cut with.

ScarfLadysBag · 16/05/2020 13:45

Don't see how it's any different from getting food delivered from local businesses or going to queue up at the supermarket. Our local fish and chip van is starting up again this weekend, so that might be tomorrow's dinner sorted!

Oldraver · 16/05/2020 13:47

Our local Mr Whippy stays in one place and you have to book, mostly large ice cream trays. I think he also makes house calls (dont quote me on that)

There were slight ructions this week as a rival Mr Whippie started up

We dotn very often get the ice cream van down our street, so I summon him via FB...and he obliges Grin

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 16/05/2020 13:47

Ooh I'd love an ice cream. Must listen out.

jcurve · 16/05/2020 13:51

We live in London, I thought all ice cream delivery vans in built up areas (away from the parks/seaside) primarily dealt drugs. It’s never occurred to me that they are trying to sell soft serve Blush

amijustparanoidorjuststoned · 16/05/2020 14:23

My friend ordered some Ice Cream from an Ice Cream Van via Deliveroo yesterday. I thought it was so cool!

Thurmanmurman · 16/05/2020 14:44

Yes, heaven forbid that some poor sod needs to make a living Hmm

Evenstar · 16/05/2020 14:50

We ordered ice cream trays this week, they were a lovely treat and delivered contactlessly to the door (ordered and paid online) our council have advised walk up sales are fine too as long as social distancing is observed.

Fluffybutter · 16/05/2020 14:51

Ours has been out for a few weeks.
He wears gloves when he has to and a face mask always

GreytExpectations · 16/05/2020 14:52

Aww OP you can't just start a goady thread like that and not come back to explain Wink

roking · 16/05/2020 15:58

Our ice cream van has been a godsend to my fiercely independent elderly neighbour during lockdown

She won't accept any help (I do keep offering) but She is getting her bread milk and other daily essentials, and her fags from the ice cream van

NameChangeNugget · 16/05/2020 16:01

Is this a serious post?

SunflowerSeedsForever · 16/05/2020 16:04

Where are they getting the drugs from? I thought that the supply was very much interrupted.

It was fro about 2 weeks then started flowing- now if anything seems to be a glut.

SudokuBook · 16/05/2020 16:07

Ours only comes every second day, bit annoying as I really fancy an oyster today

StatisticalSense · 16/05/2020 16:14

Ours came for the first time this year on Thursday. Like most of the local ones he is currently focusing on delivering pre booked large trays of whippy ice cream but is doing a few streets when he has time between orders (based on where his usual regulars live).

Underthehammer · 17/05/2020 10:34

Sorry, real life dramas. People classing drugs and frozen treats as essential was my worry, you know because of that highly infectious virus that has killed so many thousands of people.

OP posts:
Nicknacky · 17/05/2020 10:35

No one has said a lolly is essential. And not every ice cream van is a drug factory ffs.
