To really not understand why people are OK with cats

Full disclosure, I'm allergic to cats and also very much a dog person but I really don't understand how it's acceptable for cats to go round decimating local wildlife and crapping in gardens.

I've lost count of how many times I've had to pick cat poo off the lawn and my daughter came in yesterday with cat sick all over her feet as a local moggie had vommed on our patio. I'm sick of it. It's a health hazard and you shouldn't have to wear a hazmat suit to go in your own garden.

We have tadpoles outside which are about to froglet and I've just seen a fat cat with its head in the water. I'm fuming, a few of the tadpoles are injured and this is the same cat I had to get off a terrified bird last week.

I'm not remotely sentimental about nature, if a hungry creature kills another then that's how life works. However I cannot understand how people can let these cats out knowing that they're injuring animals for no reason and causing health hazards to other people in their own home.

I couldn't take my dog for a shit in your garden so why can your cat do that in mine? They're not even natural predators as they just trot home to get their whiskers.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND!

They eat birds, mice, to name a few so hardly fucking up the rotation. It's what they do..Do you expect them to eat veggie burgers?

All animals have a part to play, it's just that some of those parts are less pallitable.

And as for cats crapping in someone else's garden, do you expect them to knock on your door to ask to use your loo?

You're annoying me...

Duvetstay · 10/05/2020 19:47

But ablackrussian they're not wild animals?

I have never owned a cat but neighbours do, I appreciate them keeping the local wild mouse and rat population down, I'm not sure how many other animals roam the streets here that would stop the rodent numbers increasing.

Seetheprettysnowdrops · 10/05/2020 19:48

Marzipan but true

I've eyeballed the local fucker doing it on my front grass

We don't have foxes here. Just cats. And I really resent having to fork out MY hard earned cash to deter them

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 10/05/2020 19:49

Tbf humans do a shit tonne more damage to wildlife and yet people still go in producing them and letting them out in public.

ivfgottostaypositive · 10/05/2020 19:49

@Rezie

My husband threatened to divorce me if I walked the cats on a lead 🤣

MsTSwift · 10/05/2020 19:50

Our neighbours all have mouse infestations atm - we do not ...

Lynda07 · 10/05/2020 19:50

I live in the UK and have had many cats, none now. Mine wandered wide and free but mostly not far from my back garden. They dug holes to bury their poo, I see no problem with that. When my cats were old and not well they tended to stay indoors. I had one who remained a wild spirit and travelled, he died as a result of a car accident a few weeks ago.

Cats are cats, what's your problem?

RozHuntleysStump · 10/05/2020 19:51

Tedious, over done, repetitive thread.

Davros · 10/05/2020 19:52

Decimating means reducing by 10% do that's not hoo bad

sweetkitty · 10/05/2020 19:52

Cats are just the best! They have it made.

Flixsfoilball · 10/05/2020 19:53

Because they are gorgeous. Mine love me and comfort me without the clinginess of dogs, they aren't noisy, they don't bark/yap, they don't smell like dogs (yes, every house with a dog smells, sorry!) poo in our garden (we have created an area for them) and the worst either of mine have caught is a fly - I get the benefit of dogs without any of the negatives, but in a way that suits my lifestyle much better

To really not understand why people are OK with cats
Gindrinker43 · 10/05/2020 19:53

I totlay agree, I have often wondered how much benefit to wildlife there would be if cats were banned.
Farmers keep getting blamed for damaging garden bird popultions I bets is cats.

Tsubasa1 · 10/05/2020 19:53

You need to do something to detract the neighbourhood cats from your garden OP!! Any ideas??

Tsubasa1 · 10/05/2020 19:54

YANBU

ClientQ · 10/05/2020 19:55

Mine doesn't do any damage to wildlife or poo outside. I accept he may be unusual though Grin
He comes back in to use his litter tray and shrieks at me if he sees a spider Hmm

megletthesecond · 10/05/2020 19:55

The local cats sometimes poo in my garden. I've kept aside a patch of the border for burying it.
They get away with it because they know I like chatting to them.

Shodan · 10/05/2020 19:55

They're not even natural predators as they just trot home to get their whiskers.

My cats keep their whiskers on them at all times actually.

LongPauseNoReply · 10/05/2020 19:55

Dogs STINK! Honestly, I've never met a dog that didn't honk. Or slobber.

My cats smell like clean laundry. They clean themselves so much, especially at 4am Grin. My boys come home to poop btw, no matter how much they're out during the day they'll pop home to poo.

simonisnotme · 10/05/2020 19:55

the cat was just having a drink, not munching on tadpoles

blankethog · 10/05/2020 19:56

I'm enslaved to my cat, soz.

Terralee · 10/05/2020 19:56

@Tsubasa1 OP needs to get a kitty herself then no other cats will dare enter her garden!

PumpkinP · 10/05/2020 19:57

Well I hate dogs so there you go. Can’t stand them. And I hate how dog owners seem to think everyone loves their dog as much as them. I definitely see way more dog shit all over the pavement that lazy dog owners can’t be bothered to pick up than cat shit anywhere.

Oknobutok · 10/05/2020 19:57

Dogs are needy and gross.

Terralee · 10/05/2020 19:57

Plus cats don't shit on their on doorstep win win
