To go see my parents?

Greggers2017 · 10/05/2020 16:40

I've got to drive shortly, to pick my eldest 2 children up from their dads. The journey is an hour each way.
My parents live in the same vilage. Would I be unfair, to go and have a chat with them? I would sit in the car on the drive and they would sit by their French doors, so we will be social distancing.
Am I wrong to do this?

I'd do it.

flirtingwith40 · 10/05/2020 16:47

People will say no as it's not essential. I say go for it and enjoy it

kitnkaboodle · 10/05/2020 16:48

I'd do it and have done similar

Mummyshark2019 · 10/05/2020 16:48

Do it.

Greengrassgravy · 10/05/2020 16:49

I'd do it.

user1487194234 · 10/05/2020 16:50

Hell yes

NicEv · 10/05/2020 16:50

I would do it

whatswithtodaytoday · 10/05/2020 16:50

I think that's fine. You're going nearby anyway, why not visit so long as you stay distant.

My parents are an hour away - I wouldn't go and visit them unless I actually needed to go that way, but I certainly would if I happened to need to be nearby.

YahBasic · 10/05/2020 16:51

That would be fine. You’re doing the journey anyway for a different reason so your end destination isn’t really changing.

emmathedilemma · 10/05/2020 16:51

As you’re driving there for legitimate reasons anyway then I would (but otherwise I wouldn’t).

ToriaPumpkin · 10/05/2020 16:53

Do it. I've done it when I've had reason to be passing my mum's house and on one occasion when I needed to collect something from her. Similarly my step dad has stopped at my house on his way home from work with shopping and presents for my daughter's birthday two weeks ago.

Greggers2017 · 10/05/2020 16:57

I wouldn't do the journey if I wasn't picking my children up.
It's just really starting to get to me, not seen them for 7 weeks and usually see them weekly.

Do it.

bloodyhellsbellsx · 10/05/2020 17:04

Do it! Lockdown is basically unofficially over anyway

bringincrazyback · 10/05/2020 17:06

Lockdown is basically unofficially over anyway

Not sure I'd go that far...

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 10/05/2020 17:08

Please do it, at a safe distance.

CharlotteUnaNatalieThompson · 10/05/2020 17:09

Do it op

But this is bollocks and makes my angry:

Lockdown is basically unofficially over anyway

Lockdown is NOT over, it was extended for 3 weeks last Thursday. There might be some adjustments announced tonight but it's not over

bloodyhellsbellsx · 10/05/2020 17:09

Of course it is, hospitals restarting outpatient and elective work, restaurants and shops telling staff to prepare to reopen, some already reopen for collection, slogan changed to stay alert, police not challenging the hordes of people out over the weekend...it’s a low key way of getting life on the path back to normality

Greggers2017 · 10/05/2020 17:20

It will be interesting to see what changes are made this evening l.

OP posts:
Blingismything · 10/05/2020 17:20

Go for it.

jackstini · 10/05/2020 17:22

Absolutely
You are making an essential journey anyway so stopping at the end of their drive is fine

Etinox · 10/05/2020 17:23

Lockdown is NOT over.
But @Greggers2017 as you’ll be near anyway and you maintain social distancing, it’s fine.
Don’t use their loo Wink

Greggers2017 · 10/05/2020 17:25

@Etinox they still have an outdoor one as well 🙈

OP posts:
Ghostlyglow · 10/05/2020 17:53

I think you should.

Greggers2017 · 10/05/2020 18:14

Thank you! I'm going to set off now. Be great to see their faces
