The biggest lockdown flouting you’ve seen

Carolduckingbaskin · 10/05/2020 12:16

Ok so I do live backing onto several fields and a football pitch... bit so far I’ve seen...

A full on footie match with a group watching A group of adults of around 20, teams wearing bibs etc - probably around 20people in total.

A group of teenagers having... a boxing match (lovely bit of contact there).

Aibu to ask if anyone has seen anything quite as blatantly flouting the rules?

OP posts:
Stopmenow123 · 10/05/2020 13:08

I sat on a park bench and cackled maniacally.

MouthBreathingRage · 10/05/2020 13:09

Ah another let's bitch and snitch thread to point the finger on other people's behaviour.

Maybe it is a bit of a bitch, but snitching? No names are mentioned, no ones been reported.

To be honest, it is going to start to become a point of contention - in the next week or so I think many are going to start conveniently forgetting we're still on lockdown, even if some restrictions are lifted. Too many people are 'getting bored' and thinking what little guideline-breaking they do doesn't matter in the bigger picture.

ElinoristhenewEnid · 10/05/2020 13:11

I am honestly not bothered about other people. The virus is not going away just because we distance for a set amount of time- distancing just slows down the number of people who catch it at any particular time.

As long as people are not encroaching on my space they can do what they like and live with any consequences.

LudaMusser · 10/05/2020 13:13

I passed a pub during VE Day evening with roughly thirty people outside. I just thought they were using the car park to socially distance and celebrate as it's in the middle of the village

Later that evening the village FB page went in to melt down. The pub had been serving takeaway alcohol, the owner claimed the police knew and this was allowed. The only issue was that nobody actually took it away, they stood outside in groups and some were sat on the path with pub supplied tables and chairs

The owner posted to explain but got lynched by most of the village then took the post down

You win the internet today. Hilarious!

bellissimiaow · 10/05/2020 13:16

A 60-strong conga on Friday..

ParkheadParadise · 10/05/2020 13:17

I've been to the supermarket for alcohol, 40mins in a queue for a bottle of Bells whisky. 🤣🤣
I went back later for a paddling pool for dd.

Deelish75 · 10/05/2020 13:20

The play area in our local park is closed off. I saw a group of men in masks and gloves climb over the railing and play on the equipment?

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 10/05/2020 13:21

I saw two over 60s flagrantly sitting on a bench near the park.

Monsters. MONSTERS, Aye say ... Angry Angry Angry Grin

funinthesun19 · 10/05/2020 13:22

Next door neighbour having people going in and out of their house like a normal day.

No need for anyone to get their knickers in a twist though. I haven’t reported anyone. Grin

Orangeblossom78 · 10/05/2020 13:22

I've been flagrantly picnicking and walking and paying frisbee. Not near others and was quite fun.

Gwenhwyfar · 10/05/2020 13:24

Cricket game in the park.

Can't get worked up about people visiting if they're staying in the garden and socially distanced - no different to a communal garden in an apartment block.

I would have reported the cricket game if I'd had internet at the time though (to the council probably rather than police). Just too blatant and cheeky.

People visit around here all the time, but it's the big group things that annoy me.

Stopmenow123 · 10/05/2020 13:24

@LudaMusser He was lynched? The villagers actually killed him for an allegded offence without trial?

Seems a bit extreme.

Mnthrowaway20202 · 10/05/2020 13:26

I’m in my early 20s and have seen people my age on socials visting friends, staying over at their partners or hosting house parties. Meanwhile some of us are trying to follow the rules and desperately missing our loved ones, makes it seem pointless when others aren’t doing so!

Have also seen an instagram influencer invite her hair stylist over to do her hair

JohnFinlaysNewTeeth · 10/05/2020 13:29

@MooFeatures I can assure you it’s not a recent thing.

Friend using stayhomesaveslives hashtag on her photos in her parents house with the rest of her family they don’t live there for a “VE Day bbq” (or a pissup let’s face it).

I’ve not snitched in anyone but it’s made me really change my mind about people I thought were sensible and intelligent.

ArlenesWoodburningStove · 10/05/2020 13:31

I live in NI and don’t know a single person who has had it. I keep waiting for the announcement that we’ve all taken part in a Truman Show type experiment.

Lynda07 · 10/05/2020 13:33

No I haven't, football seems OK but boxing not so though presumably they wear gloves. Are they immediately backing on to you or do you have to go upstairs and look out of a back bedroom window to see? I have to say I've no idea what goes on beyond my yard and neither do I want to.

What is the beginning of the thread with, "OK so", all about?

NeneValley · 10/05/2020 13:35

Over 60 NHS worker in doctor surgery and care home caretaker husband neighbours

They have their adult children and grandchildren round several times a week.

Surprised at them, but not judging them. We’re a household with 2 young kids, asthma and heart disease so we’ve been strictly following lockdown regulations. We’re alright, Jack. They may not be, but they don’t seem bothered.

Didicat · 10/05/2020 13:35

My neighbour decided to have a paddling pool party on the drive in front of the house with 3 or 4 different families, naked kiddies running up and down the pavement.so noisy my husband conference calls attendee asked if he was at a party, he had the windows closed!

Today the same neighbour has about 4 extra car visiting for Sunday lunch as usual......

Not to mention the householder is 50+ male and type 1 diabetic, with numerous ambulance call outs to his name.

Bleurgh and they clap on a Friday ggrrrrrr

Becca19962014 · 10/05/2020 13:40

(From local police Twitter) family from Birmingham came to see the beach and have their daily exercise. I'm in rural Wales. To get on the beach they were on they needed to move multiple barriers. Told to go home. Came back after police left and told to leave again. Before anyone says, yes it was deserted but it is a very dangerous beach at the best of times. Many require services of lifeboat/coastguard and people have lost cars to the tide there (which moves very fast as its on an estuary).

I've been reported for "looking like a tourist"
Confused

PhilSwagielka · 10/05/2020 13:41

Not much, just little things, groups of people out and about. Nothing worth getting too angry about, I just made sure to keep my distance.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 10/05/2020 13:41

Too many people are 'getting bored' and thinking what little guideline-breaking they do doesn't matter in the bigger picture.

And you know what? They're probably entirely right.

After all, it isn't as though 2m 'social distancing' when walking past someone out of doors for a fraction of a second isn't entirely arbitrary. Or that it depends which way the wind happens to be blowing at any given moment - both literally and metaphorically. Or that it's a position our esteemed leaders aren't rapidly backtracking from.

Watch what they do, not what they say. I.e. Costa Boris and Professor Lockdown, AKA Neil Ferguson ...

exLtEveDallas · 10/05/2020 13:41

This, reported on a police force FB page

The biggest lockdown flouting you’ve seen
CatAndHisKit · 10/05/2020 13:44

Bluntness well you wouldn't know that on the day, hence we are all told to keep the distance - and if they don't need hospitalisation themselves, the boys/men can pass it to others in their household who may become ill. Strange comment!

Becca19962014 · 10/05/2020 13:45

We have something similar to that in our county. Plenty of breaches and like there, if it's where I think it is, very difficult to access.

The main difficultly with them is they're in websites as places to swim in nature it something like that. Totally ignoring the dangers!!
