Aibu to ask whether I should chop off those curly bits sticking out on the side and tidy the back up once lockdown is over?

It's up to you, everyone is different. Personally I would. But remember some kids hate the hairdressers my eldest use to scream when he got in the chair lol.

Sexnotgender · 09/05/2020 08:23

I’d leave him be just now.

UntamedShrew · 09/05/2020 08:25

The real question is, are you ready? He will look so grown up without the baby curls! I’d personally take lockdown as a great excuse to keep it long but only you know what’s right for you.

PS he is utterly lovely, look at those cheeks!

OwlinaTree · 09/05/2020 08:25

Does it get tangled up? My son used to rub his head around on the cat seat and his hair got all matted, so we had a little trim about that age and it stopped it.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 09/05/2020 08:25

I love longer hair on boys so I’d leave it.
Just as well we had girls as DH would prob want boys with practically shaved heads

Cheesecakejar · 09/05/2020 08:25

My 17 month old has had 3 haircuts already and soooooo ready for his 4th! Hair grows like wildfire! Your son's is lovely 😍 I think it's nice as it is.

GenerateUsername · 09/05/2020 08:26

I don’t see the rush personally. He’ll grow up soon enough!

Look at his fat little tummy Bear

SummerHouse · 09/05/2020 08:26

Look at him! He is a total beauty. You could snip a few bits but I wouldn't. He has gorgeous hair.

B0bbin · 09/05/2020 08:30

What a lovely little cherub. I personally love the little curls and straggly bits they get. Everyone's got lockdown hair right now. Leave it a while Smile

Oysterbabe · 09/05/2020 08:31

I would. My 2 are getting their locks hacked off today.

CantKeepSecrets · 09/05/2020 08:37

Depends on wether you want him to have it cut or not , he is very cute so doubt his haircut will impact that much Smile

My DS hair is wild and it always has been , he had his first trim at 4 months old because he literally had a mullet growing past his shoulders. He's just turned 2 and has his hair cut every 3 weeks (I can't even tell you how awful it looks thanks to lock down Grin) I don't mean it grows all cute and curly , his very thick not quite curly not quite straight hair literally stands on end - just like his dads Envy

Gtugccbjb · 09/05/2020 08:37

Oh very cute hair. How could you chop off that side curl you wicked Mother! Keep it until you’re the only person left that thinks it’s cute.

Thurmanmurman · 09/05/2020 08:39

Gorgeous little boy! I would but I'm not a fan of long hair on boys. Maybe just a little trim.

ShambalaHambala · 09/05/2020 08:41

Nooooo don't do it! He's so cute.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 09/05/2020 08:42

Oh, those eyes!

mamma2457 · 09/05/2020 08:43

It's lovely now. I just wouldn't let it get too long and mullet-ish like mine. We did DS first haircut at 18m - I put it off as long as possible because I thought he was lovely as he was. It turned out he was adorable with short hair! And now when back at pre-haircut I cringe a little at the mullet!

Sparklingbrook · 09/05/2020 08:44

No idea about the hair. Knowing me I would cut it then wish I hadn’t. But he really is cute!

QuixoticQuokka · 09/05/2020 08:46

He's still just a baby, unless the hair is a problem then I wouldn't. I'd say the same if he was a girl.

APocketFullOfButtons · 09/05/2020 08:49

I love long hair on boys, so I’d definitely leave it

CigarsofthePharoahs · 09/05/2020 08:52

Keep the baby curls a bit longer op!
My youngest had his first haircut way sooner than I'd have chosen because he caught chickenpox aged 4 months and half his head went bald. It then grew in a different colour. By the time he was 8 months he looked awful, weird long bits of dark hair and shorter patches of blonde hair. He did look better after we trimmed it and then it was at least the same length all over though he did have the multi coloured thing going for a while.

StillMedusa · 09/05/2020 09:04

Ah leave it.. wait til it can be done by a hairdresser :)
Plus..he will suddenly look all grown up when his curls go and you will be sad! (Or I was when we had my ds1's cut about that age!)
He's beautiful !

KindnessCrusader · 09/05/2020 09:05

You can't cut curls, it's the law Grin My 3 year old hasn't had a cut yet and no plans to do it any time soon.

My son has a beautiful mop of curls - he has had several cuts starting at 12 months BUT his curls have stayed and as I am curly I suspect they are “real” curls not gorgeous baby girls. Please be aware that if you cut the curls there is a chance they will not come back! I would wait a little - we only get DS’ cut when the fringe is over his eyes and he can’t see. He’s desperate for a cut now really as hair out of control but I darent touch it myself as curly hair really needs doing properly due to layers and making sure curls are their best etc

Ineedabreak19 · 09/05/2020 09:13

I shaved my son's wispy baby hair when he was 6 months old and then left it until he was 3 yrs old. His hair grew really thick and curly, the shaving definitely got rid of the wispy, bald patches he got from rubbing his head.

I'd leave your son as he is for now but I'd definitely shave it off and let it grow back thicker.

Peonyinbloom · 09/05/2020 09:16

Be warned OP, he will go from baby to little boy with the snip of the scissors.
He is so cute. I want one!
