Family down the road have been blasting dance music on their garden since about 2pm. No sign of it stopping yet, they have a fire/bbq blazing and they are getting hammered (fair enough, it's a bank holiday) but they're screeching and screaming on their back garden for us all to hear.

Their party shows no sign of stopping. AIBU to get increasingly annoyed? Or am I being a massive priss? I would have thought it's a bit late to be blasting music on your garden past 10 at night...

So much for winning the war. In Germany there are strict by laws and you're not even allowed to use your washing machine after a certain time. In this country, the yobs can get away with anything it seems.

DamnYankee · 08/05/2020 23:47

In my state, even at remote campsites, they ask you to turn it off at 10. And the campsite managers have no problem pulling up in their Jeep and telling you to knock it off. And you'd have no idea who'd complained.
Why would this situation be different? Surely a few of your neighbors are fed up, too?

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 08/05/2020 23:47

@Midsommar not in Tunbridge Wells by any chance? I heard dance music from the park...thought there was a rave going on somewhere...that was this afternoon

cocktailsatdawn · 08/05/2020 23:58

Same thing is going on here. I know we are commemorating VE day, but I have no idea what a late night drunken rendition of Wonderwall has to do with it.

cocktailsatdawn · 09/05/2020 00:01

Have actually just remembered that I have a bottle of Liquid Ass in the house (don't ask!). Not sure whether it will work outside (its very potent inside...), but I'm going to give it a few sprays out of the front window anyway.

SquirtleSquad · 09/05/2020 00:02

What is liquid ass?

cocktailsatdawn · 09/05/2020 00:04

Very smelly spray stuff. Smells like raw sewage.

I hope it ends soon op

Midsommar · 09/05/2020 00:15

Finally! The neighbours have gone to bed, it's a miracle! If if happens again tomorrow I'm going round and booting their speakers.

@TheUnquestionedAnswer nope not in Tunbridge Wells. In a small Northern town. Looks like there are loud idiot neighbours all over this fair country of ours!

REALLY DONT WISH VIRUS ON PEOPLE THATS A BIT OUT OF ORDER.

ChocolateTea · 09/05/2020 00:17

I'm so jealous. I really want to holler out the window for them to shut up now, but it's not worth the aggro, having to live here after all. But they're so fucking rude, and I really do see my neighbours in a different light after the last 6 weeks of seeing them during this lockdown.

SpillTheTeaa · 09/05/2020 00:21

I hope they all have hangovers from hell in the morning and get the bloody virus from each other.

Charming... Hmm

Glad they stopped OP! A lot of loud people round here tonight. One girl I kept hear screeching.. one WKD too many.

Easilyanxious · 09/05/2020 00:22

If it's just this one night is it really that big a deal
I'm glad I don't live near most of you
My neighbours have a party in summer about once every 3 weeks goes on until early hours and we can always hear bits , but it's normally in a weekend and I just shut my window torn on the fan and go to sleep

cocktailsatdawn · 09/05/2020 00:34

Easily - Its not just one night here, its any excuse for this lot and the last few weeks have particularly taken the piss, not that the council give a toss.

PS Liquid Ass doesn't work and we have now moved onto Living on a Prayer.

Chienloup · 09/05/2020 00:37

This whole situation of VE Day has been a massive cock up. First Boris tells everyone during PMQs that he'll be easing elements of lockdown on Monday, the papers reiterated this, then the media encouraged bloody street parties, with the BBC putting them all over the news.
So all these people decided that they can just do wtf they like this weekend. What should have happened was no talk of easing lockdown and active discouraging of street parties and social events. In have a feeling that in two weeks time we're going to see quite a lot of localised outbreaks. Idiots.

expat101 · 09/05/2020 01:08

I'm outside of the UK and in our area it's any noise that is at unreasonable levels any time of day or night.

We have had previous problems (same as you Midsommar) close up the insulated and double glazed house and still hear drumming/base/thump over the TV. Does my head in!

In our area, the people involved will get a warning first up, if the contractors have to come out again the equipment is confiscated and it's a court process to get it back.

LakieLady · 09/05/2020 06:55

The council here with noise complaints don't work on a ring and pop out basis. I didn't know any did

I doubt if our council has an out-of-hours noise number any more, but they did years ago and I rang them once. I got a recorded announcement saying that the out-of-hours service closed at 1.00am,. The party I was complaining about was still going on at 3!

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 09/05/2020 08:17

About 2:05.

I hate blaring music. There's a house at the bottom of our street that plays loud music as soon as it's sunny. Luckily I can't hear them from mine as our street is a hill and I live right at the top. But every time I walk past I thank God I don't have to live next door.

ChocolateTea · 09/05/2020 08:36

Ours eventually gave up around 130am. After their guests had threatened to take their kids home several times for misbehaving, they eventually did leave. Though they all sounded so drunk god knows which one of them drove

Midsommar · 09/05/2020 10:33

At least we aren't alone in having inconsiderate idiots for neighbours! No doubt we'll all have the joys of listening to drunken screaming and the bass of shit dance music tonight too. They make me so mad, why are people so selfish!? Angry
