Family down the road have been blasting dance music on their garden since about 2pm. No sign of it stopping yet, they have a fire/bbq blazing and they are getting hammered (fair enough, it's a bank holiday) but they're screeching and screaming on their back garden for us all to hear.

Their party shows no sign of stopping. AIBU to get increasingly annoyed? Or am I being a massive priss? I would have thought it's a bit late to be blasting music on your garden past 10 at night...

@Timetospare a real cannon would do the trick!!

OP posts:
Midsommar · 08/05/2020 23:25

@anotheremma I'd love to grow a backbone but I'm afraid they'd break it with a sledgehammer should I ask them to to turn to noise down!!

Lima45 · 08/05/2020 23:25

Well mine didn't stop at 11. Still ongoing.
Council noise team not picking up. Great

Destroyer · 08/05/2020 23:27

Sending positive thoughts of solidarity to all of you who are still suffering with the noise.

blacksax · 08/05/2020 23:27

Councils have specific phone numbers for OOH noise complaints
Yes. And do they pop round and ask the householder to pack it in? No, they don't. Certainly not round here, anyway. You're lucky if they take less than a fortnight to do anything.

Midsommar · 08/05/2020 23:28

@Lima45 you may need to do what I'm doing...earplugs in and wine out! Bloody infuriating isn't it.

Cherrysoup · 08/05/2020 23:31

Honest to god, it should be a crime and come with a huge fine. Pisses me off so much, I am raging for you. Why do these idiots have the right to impact on your right to a peaceful life? Cunts.

Justaboy · 08/05/2020 23:31

Last time i called 101 they came back to me the following day it was a traffic light set out that was causing some problems. Its not a 999 issue and if the environmental health arent answering then best bet is bottle of something nice and earplugs!

Night - sleep tight:)

ChocolateTea · 08/05/2020 23:32

The council here with noise complaints don't work on a ring and pop out basis. I didn't know any did.

VideographybyLouBloom · 08/05/2020 23:32

Still going on here too and now they are shouty-singing. I really want to sleep 😩 DH is threatening to get the lawnmower out at 8am

yellowbrickwhorl · 08/05/2020 23:33

I've just looked on our council's website, and there isn't an out-of-hours number at all.

AnotherEmma · 08/05/2020 23:33

I think some will go out if there are repeated complaints but I doubt they are doing it during lockdown.

ChocolateTea · 08/05/2020 23:33

I so wish I had a toddler. I would have no qualms letting them out in the garden at 7am tomorrow screaming on a trampoline.

Damn having teenagers. I wonder if I can get them to have shouting fortnite battles outside tomorrow instead of in their room?

Holothane · 08/05/2020 23:33

We can still hear the idiots back of us if it doesn’t stop by 12 we’ll report.

Dotty02 · 08/05/2020 23:34

Honestly do something! The police will go round. I asked police other day because there was a lot of noise ar 2am in the morning power tools the lot, I didn't know address it was coming from but police was round my street the next day and j went out they said just put in a complaint they will investigate Star

ChocolateTea · 08/05/2020 23:35

Ooooh our grass needs cutting. And the lawnmower is in a very noisy to operate shed. Even if I don't cut it, I may have to get everything out that she'd tomorrow and clean it. And put it back. And get it out again.

FourPlasticRings · 08/05/2020 23:35

I hear you, OP. Thankfully mine stopped at 11. I'd leave it as a one off but would mention it if it happened again soon. Mine are at it every weekend night at the moment.

VideographybyLouBloom · 08/05/2020 23:36

@ChocolateTea I so wish I had a toddler. I would have no qualms letting them out in the garden at 7am tomorrow screaming on a trampoline.
Now that is an idea. Mine are 6 and 8 and can make a real bloody racket on the trampoline. As soon as they wake up in the morning I’m locking them in the garden Grin

Louiselouie0890 · 08/05/2020 23:38

I understand we want something to be happy about but I think encouraging people to have a garden tea party for VE day has encouraged so much dangerous interactions. I've stayed in all day because most of my street were out not social distancing. Like a breeding ground.

ChocolateTea · 08/05/2020 23:38

@VideographybyLouBloom do it! And go for a nice leisurely Sunday return to bed with a cup of tea....!

Louiselouie0890 · 08/05/2020 23:38

I'm sure they will be clapping on thursday though

YE420032c · 08/05/2020 23:38

I hate loud parties but when its a one off at a weekend then you have to exercise a bit of tolerance. I dont normally approve of snitching and reporting occasional parties at times like Christmas, New Year etc. Where I live we have Indian weddings and they can be pretty noisy, The time to worry is when your neighbours are doing this on a regular basis. I would probably just put ear plugs in, tun up the TV and suck it up.

BikeRunSki · 08/05/2020 23:41

I reported my neighbours earlier today. They’ve been having aloud bbq party with people who don’t normally live there since about 2pm. I reported at about 8pm. Not because of the music, I can live with that, but because of the lack of social distancing.

Lima45 · 08/05/2020 23:43

Wayhey mine has stopped!
And council called me back and they're going to investigate. Apparently the council wouldn't have approved that level of socialisation.

Rightio. I'm gonna go to bed cos I'm knackered. Good luck to all of you who have ongoing noise issues.

VideographybyLouBloom · 08/05/2020 23:45

Night @Lima45

I’m still in hell 😩
