People in the Tesco queue are doing the Macarena and I’m cringing so hard I think I might turn inside out

Just that really, essential shopping trip for us and two elderly shielded neighbours. Standing in the huge queue for Tesco, they’re blasting 90’s and 00’s classics out and people are dancing accordingly. At the end of each song they all cheer and clap. I’m a complete introvert, would rather shut my left tit in a car door than get involved.

Probably being a miserable kill joy but with a killer virus on the loose I don’t feel like flailing your limbs about and cheering me in close proximity to lots of people is the best idea. I want to shop then go home and sit in the bloody garden, not do the fucking time warp. Again.

Now, I wouldn’t do it myself, but it wouldn’t bother me other people doing it. Just a bit of fun.

Prettybubblesintheair · 08/05/2020 16:22

@SauvignonBlanche I could have gone to Aldi once I’d seen the festivities unfold but last time I went in they didn’t have much on the shelves and my neighbours have hardly asked for help so I wanted to try and get everything they’d asked for. Plus, f&f had 50% off all clothing...shoot me now!

This is the perfect song.

Thaddit · 08/05/2020 16:36

I broke out in a cold sweat just reading the title of your post OP. Having reached the end I am wringing wet down to my drawers. Thankfully I live in a small market town where the queue would rather eat the many cowpats in the nearby fields than sing or dance.

YouTheCat · 08/05/2020 16:39

Sounds like mt worst nightmare. If I want to listen to music I put on my headphones and don't inflict it on everyone else.

managedmis · 08/05/2020 16:39

Is there a video on this thread? Did op upload ONE?

Otherwise I'm not RTFT

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 08/05/2020 16:40

Ask them to do Cunt of a Day. Should subdue them for a bit. Grin

Mummyshark2019 · 08/05/2020 16:42

Haha no! Sounds horrific.

Itstheprinciple · 08/05/2020 16:42

DD and I regularly dance in shop aisles if a good song comes on. We have no shame. It's all good fun!

JudyCoolibar · 08/05/2020 17:04

After 30 minutes queuing in bright sunlight with no shade, if anyone had tried to make me dance I'd have advised them to get a quick reality check.

mynamesmrdiggety · 08/05/2020 17:06

Ah that's brilliant. And I am a massive introvert that never dances!

Bertucci · 08/05/2020 17:08

Bleurgh. I’d cringe myself inside out. This has brought out the worst in so many people. I thought the clapping was bad enough 😂😂

Zhuleva · 08/05/2020 17:12

That sounds like my worst nightmare. They keep singing en masse where I live every Thursday night and I can't bear that either. If anyone tries to get me to do that kind of thing it makes me want to burst into flames.

rosiethehen · 08/05/2020 17:18

It needs to be We're Havin' A Gang Bang to be really horrifying 😄

YANBU

ipswichwitch · 08/05/2020 17:22

Someone put Celine Dion on in the queue I was in earlier. Everyone looked sick as fuck.

DollyDaydream70 · 08/05/2020 17:27

@Prettybubblesintheair no advice or comment from me, except to say your post made me laugh and do a little wee, thank God for pantliners! :-D

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 08/05/2020 18:16

When Bob was caught out in his illicit shenanigans by fat f-f-f-f-ucking Mavis! The really horrifying thing about that footage though is the mullets. I guess they weren't really thinking about social distancing when they devised that dance!

Oh, the nostalgia.

Flymetothetoon · 08/05/2020 18:18

That cockatoo clip has killed me 😂🤣🤣🤣

DominaShantotto · 08/05/2020 18:48

Apparently it was "you got to fight for the right to party" when DH was there. Slightly amusing.

RoLaren · 08/05/2020 18:57

'Lookin' for some hot stuff baby this evening, I need some hot stuff baby tonight .. '

Persiaclementine · 08/05/2020 19:17

Oh no, I'm cringing just thinking about it !!

SerenDippitty · 08/05/2020 19:22

Thank god there was none of this when I went to Tesco this afternoon. Wartime songs being played over the speakers but that was it.

BillyAndTheSillies · 08/05/2020 19:55

You're not in East London are you OP? My local Tesco has set up a resident DJ to entertain the lines. I haven't been shopping since March but it seems to be a hit so far.
