Sweet jesus I just realised it's finally happened, I've tucked my belly apron into my knickers..

Sigh. 4months PP with dc2. Two stone overweight I reckon thanks to a hard pregnancy and it's finally happened. I'm tucking a saggy apron in to gargantuan pants.

How the hell do you get rid of this thing??? I've lost 6lbs in two and half weeks by walking the pushchair and not eating crap (in lockdown I expect a medal for this) and my legs and arms are really thanking me for it. But my apron belly still looks like a pork shoulder joint has been velcroed to me but the butcher forgot to use string Sad.

Pretty limited with a two year old and a 4mo with what I can do here.

Am I being a fool for even trying right now and should just accept my fate and order some more granny pants.... Anyone else contemplating whether this is just an added misery right now??

It depends how bad it is. It may not disappear with weight loss. Mine is just getting wrinklier and saggier Sad But I am getting more healthy so that’s the trade off I guess!

Congratulation on your baby Flowers

Seeleyboo · 08/05/2020 07:50

Order more pants and wear them backwards. And socks too. I tuck mine in them.

BlodwynBludd · 08/05/2020 07:51

Two 9lbs babies via c section. I'll never get rid it's a lump of scar!

Nishky · 08/05/2020 07:52

Mine went when I lost weight ( was more overweight than you are now) but it is wrinkly- start moisturising now would be my advice. Great weight loss so far!

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 08/05/2020 07:52

That is a pretty awesome weight loss so give yourself a high five!
As for loose skin - it will be a marathon not a sprint. It looks bad now but it will retract but will still be there - give it a year and it will be less obvious.
Meanwhile if you incorporate more weight/yoga/resistance it will help build muscles under it. Keep hydrated and perhaps consider collagen supplements.

Skin removal is a last resort as it is a major (and expensive) surgery.

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 08/05/2020 07:53

Perhaps check out ObeseToBeast on YouTube and his 13 stone weight loss. He talks about loose skin and has elected not to have surgery.

SodOffCovid · 08/05/2020 07:54

@BlodwynBludd same here. Two sections!

It's so saggy and wrinkly 🤢 like an enormous testicle. Sigh.

Waist-high bikini bottoms are brilliant - bought a black and navy pair for beach holiday last year, threw away all the itsy-bitsy bottoms and then just tucked everything in. My daughter said the 50s look was fashionable again!

BlodwynBludd · 08/05/2020 08:01

I call mine Bob. Bob the wobble. I hate Bob. Every time I look at Bob I think when my kids are older and rich and successful I will guilt them into buying my nice jewellery with Bob.

SodOffCovid · 08/05/2020 08:05

@BlodwynBludd brilliant Smile

I’ve lost two stone since birth 14 months ago with 12lbs to go. Mine has gone down, I do yoga with my toddler followed by planks (I did the 30 day plank challenge) along with running. You need to tone as you lose weight but its a marathon not a sprint.

There will always be scaring and some sag but mine looked like a pumpkin two weeks after Halloween this time last year so don’t give up hope.

ponchek · 08/05/2020 08:10

I hate it too. It feels exactly as you say, Sodoff - something stuck on the front of you that's nothing to do with you! 😣

Losing weight does change it. That bastard is full of fat. I don't understand how, but that must surely be what it's made of?!

So keep on with the fat burning. And I think engaging with the spare tyre works. So body scrub it every day in the shower. Boots have 1/3 off the Soap and glory stuff at the mo and it's really good. Slather that on the unwanted donut cushion and scrub away. Then moisturise a lot. That will improve the skin tone. Do it every day forever.

And do a bit of yoga. Planks too. Do 5 morning and night.

My plan is just to get it the best I can and then whatever. And the rest of my body can be as good as I can get it. That bit will just have to be imperfect. But losing weight will surely make it less bad.

We are talking damage limitation here. Because tummy tuck is too scary.

ponchek · 08/05/2020 08:11

Apparently there is a sort of Australian tummy band that can help??

Peonyonpoint · 08/05/2020 08:13

I don’t know about the skin but there is a program called mutu mama and another one which I am going to start in one of the next rounds called Better body after baby. Home based etc. Also I’ve just gone back to lowing carbing which I’m planning on doing in the us paleo/fasting style (a bit like the blood sugar diet, though trying to adopt it in a less extreme but more long-term-maintainable style). It really all does take time for some people. I would DEF get a tummy tuck (to repair diastasis primarily) if it wasn’t so risky.

Peonyonpoint · 08/05/2020 08:15

Do make sure you don’t have a diastasis before doing planks OP! If you do you can def build up to them but look at specialist repair and tummy flattening programmes first!

Puds11 · 08/05/2020 08:18

How long are people holding planks for?

MarinaMarinara · 08/05/2020 08:45

Two HUGE babies, two c-sections here too. Mine is gross. My stomach looks like fleshy stretch marked crepe paper (and that is after I’ve done couch to 5k, and lost some weight and started to get a bit healthier). I have started embracing granny pants for comfort and high waisted full skirts as a “fashion” choice...

Ohohohwhereyougoing · 08/05/2020 08:47

I cannot believe that not a single person has reiterated the fact that you are only a tiny 4 months post birth!!! Of course you still jiggle!

Give yourself a break love Flowers

fascinated · 08/05/2020 08:49

Big knickers also ! Black, robust Material! No vpl any more either.

Jayaywhynot · 08/05/2020 08:51

Yoga, YouTube yoga for tightening tummies and joe wicks abs work out, also rub Bio Oil

BogRollBOGOF · 08/05/2020 08:53

Granny pants. Definitely Granny pants.
I can confirm after nearly a decade that it is impossible to buy attractive matching bra and pants sets combining size 10 granny pants and 32B bras. Hmm

Mine is having a ressurgence. I'm approaching 40 and any time I gain a little fat, it gravitates to the wobble, but never lets go when I lose it. Yet the B cups remain B cups.

I regularly run up to half marathon distance. I regularly do yoga. It seems to be a choice of accepting its claim on squatters rights, live joylessly on lettuce leaves for the rest of my life, or surgery. I'm going with squatters rights.

dementedma · 08/05/2020 08:53

3 c-sections here and that belly flap is here to stay. Youngest dc is 18 ( years) so trust me on this. It actually looks worse if I lose some of my pot belly as its just more obvious then. Just tuck it in and have a doughnut to console yourself.

ppeatfruit · 08/05/2020 08:54

EXACTLY Ohohoh FGS Your baby is 4MONTHS OLD It;s normal!!!!! We're not efffing robots!!!!!!!! We're not stupid celebs who aren't norma!!!!!!!

IT will go down gradually ,breast feeding helps a lot. Eat healthily, plenty of fresh fruit and veg. AND don't worry !!!!!!!!

Hanamuslim · 08/05/2020 08:56

Try and find tummy exercise that help. I'm roughly a size 18 and wish I could gi back to a 14. I was that size before my second child and comfortable. As I am naturally curvy and liked my figure then. Now I am 2 sizes up. Hubby doesn't say I should lose weight. He says I am great as I am. I am not very keen on my stomach either. After having 4 children it could be worse. I barely have stretch marks. I am just having a dropper and to be honest I would love to get rid of it but I am not good at sticking to exercise routines. Its Ramadan at the moment and fasting should help me lose weight. But come 9pm when fasting finishes,.we are all eating like mad.

fretnot · 08/05/2020 08:56

Please don’t do planks at 4m postpartum without specialist physio advice. It’s not just separation of stomach muscles but risk of pelvic organ prolapse from the abdominal pressure it creates. As PP said, cut yourself some slack! Healthy eating and gentle exercise sounds just the thing. I found Pilates really helpful, with a teacher who knows her stuff.
