I'm definitely being unreasonable because I'm blatantly on this topic for traffic. But we could all do with some holiday vibes, so I'll let myself off!

Please please share with me your best ever holidays!

Browsing exotic places online is the only thing keeping me sane (that and sewing awful clothes) at the moment so I'd love further inspiration

Our honeymoon was to NYC, had the first few days in Manhattan - been several times, still amazing. Then had a few days exploring the Catskills, stayed in Saugerties Lighthouse which was so romantic, DH surprised me with that! Drove out to Bethel to see where Woodstock was held (underwhelming now though) and just drove round finding little diners to stop at.
Loved it, lots of lovely memories 🤗

Narrow boat holiday through stoke on Trent. Iv been all over the world but this was the one I enjoyed the most. Never laughed so much.

I went to barcelona as a teen and loved it. It was gorgeous.

Backpacking around Thailand for a month was amazing defiantly my favourite place in the world!

I've been to almost every single country/territory in the Caribbean (just missing 3) and my top places there would be

  • Havana, Cuba
  • Bridgetown, Barbados
  • St Johns, Antigua
  • Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands
  • Tortola, British Virgin Islands

Aruba, St Lucia and Bequia are up there tooSmile

Spending a week sailing from Split to Dubrovnik and calling in at several islands along the way. Including wine tasting in Vis and exploring Korcula.

Lots of time to snorkel and swim. Hire bikes and kayaks to explore the islands. It was such a lovely holiday!

The holiday to Menorca with my 4 kids, just before I split up from the ex

Pre kids - Cambodia and Laos were amazing and so adventurous. China also amazing, but really hard work (it was pre Google translate!)

Kids - Thailand and also Turkish luxury all inclusive can't be matched for value for money

So many options and so frustrating to not be able to book anything right now! 😁

We have had many wonderful holidays round the world but on our first trip to the USA we saw the shuttle take off, it was an amazing sight, sound and feel, the earth was shaking. When it disintegrated on re-entry years later, Columbia, I wept buckets for 'our shuttle'.
Seeing 100s of hot air balloons take off over Albuquerque was fantastic, taking off from Christchurch NZ, climbing over serious looking mountains with the tannoy screeching Emergency Emergency and the calm crew saying Oh, it's always doing that, as they handed out headphones was an experience.

The Caribbean for me! We did a 2 week cruise around 11 islands and it was amazing. Beautiful places, fantastic people and amazing food. Hard to pick an absolute favourite island but I loved Antigua and St Lucia.

Best holidays were pre-kids, no question! Backpacking around Italy and Sicily was a big favourite, travelling by train and ferry and staying in basic little hotels, also various trips around the western US with DH around the time we got married. We visited national parks, and hiked and stayed in lodges - it was blissful.

Since having kids the best holidays were Brittany, Lanzarote, Lake District and Northumberland.

I'd be happy to just fast forward through this year. Being locked down at home without being able to travel has made me realise how much travel means to me. Without it and without anything to look forward to, I feel un-moored. Wish I could just skip forward 12 months - fuck 2020!

It's a toss-up between an all-inclusive on the Mayan Riviera (Mexico) and a lakefront cottage rental in Muskoka (Canada). Both were very relaxing in beautiful places.

CayrolBaaaskin · 08/05/2020 18:29

So many but Bolivia has a special place in my heart. Salares de Uyuni plus rainforest plus Sucre and La Paz. Nowhere like it

Ellmau · 08/05/2020 19:26

Lake Brienz just outside Interlaken in Switzerland. So beaufidul, so many interesting places and Beauty spots, so easy to get around by public transport. Expensive but amazing.

South Tyrol in second place, again natural beauty, castles, lots of easy day trips. Stayed at Merano which is a lovely spa town. Perfect mix of Italian and Austrian.

Mozambique
I went 15 years ago, and we drove past xai xai and the road just ended and we kept on going.
I’m well travelled, and still nothing compares to that experience. We camped right by a lagoon which was near the sea.
Incredible.
Loved Brazil. So interesting too

cptartapp · 08/05/2020 20:29

The Maldives or Mauritius. Just love the Indian Ocean. St Lucia also beautiful.
Or family holiday in Iceland. Quad biking in the lava fields particularly memorable.

DazedandConcerned · 08/05/2020 20:42

My favourite has to be our 4 week trip to Egypt starting in Cairo and travelling around the entire country including a Nile cruise and an overnight in Abu Simbel with dawn trip to the temples. My husband is currently blogging about the adventure.

Honourable mention to a Baltic cruise we took on P&O Aurora.

fairydustandpixies · 08/05/2020 20:45

A January break in Reykjavik. Just four days but the best holiday ever.

Katjolo · 08/05/2020 20:46

Pre kids- girls holiday to Vegas!

nettytree · 08/05/2020 20:50

I've got simple tastes. We love nothing more than a week or 2 in a static caravan in dawlish.
