Which celebs have made arses of themselves in their quest to entertain /crave attention

Doingtheboxerbeat · 05/05/2020 23:34

I know that their living depends on staying relevant but these are challenging times for such self indulgence when people have more pressing issues. But some celebs who are normally not massively annoying, are making reputation destroying SM entries.
So far, The usually wonderful Ellen has peed off a lot of people, Michael Buble, Ollie Muirs(???), Madonna and loads more.
Any others making your cringe gland rupture?

I know I am part of the problem and this is not important but I am bored.

Ah, it was '1990's Day' not WBD. Which makes me feel about 100.

Kortnee · 06/05/2020 19:02

I think David Beckham is reading a chapter of Harry Potter alongside other slebs... That should be entertaining.

CoronaIsComing · 06/05/2020 19:06

Sam Smith is my most hated celebrity at the best of times, but the crying on the steps on his mansion was shameful.

Also, Michael Ball taking advantage of Captain Tom’s popularity to increase his coverage. It was nice of him to sing for him, but the charity single wasn’t necessary and now it appears he’s making a documentary about him!

Dowser · 06/05/2020 19:08

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

This is the Amanda Holden clip with her daughter. To me it sounds like her daughter says 'ow' but I may well be mistaken.
I've heard kids say ow or ouch if another child passes them too closely, well weeks ago obviously Grin

ssd · 06/05/2020 19:29

Amanda Holden.

Desperate personified. Must be hard to live with her.

CrowCat · 06/05/2020 19:35

Dr Ranj from CBeebies. One minute he's posting essential C19 advice for parents and the next he's sharing a TikTok dance. He seems lovely but it's all a bit cringe and I can't really take him seriously anymore Confused

BlancheDuBlah · 06/05/2020 19:38

Omg yes, Dr Ranj luffs himself.

Hoohaahoo · 06/05/2020 19:41

Don’t know if these class as celebs but they’ve made me laugh.
Kate Lawler (big brother winner), she’s just been herself but I think she’s so funny and nice.

Kiri Pritchard Maclean (comedian). I am loving her dog jumping up on the bed videos. She’s also been hosting a weekly comedy night with some really funny comedians, lots of money raised for food banks.

Iamthewombat · 06/05/2020 20:57

Howard Donald (take that) also apparently reading kids’ stories WHY WHY WHY

merryhouse · 06/05/2020 22:04

@Iamthewombat for the mums, presumably?

Years ago I remember Guy of Gisborne reading the bedtime story on CBeebies. I had no objection Grin - in fact, I remember saying "see, I knew he was the real lead"

littlebillie · 06/05/2020 22:08

Sam Smith he is so self absorbed and quite odd. I am not sure why he gets air time.

YourVagesty · 06/05/2020 22:39

Littlebillie I remember reading that his parents had spent £300k to make his career happen.

I reckon he's a product of his environment Hmm

Cherrysoup · 06/05/2020 22:52

Graham Norton really pissed me off doing an interview with Chris Hemsworth this week. He was asking him about his yoga for kids videos and ended up making it all sexual and cringey, as well as making eyes at Chris, who was clearly a bit flustered. Just not appropriate.

yellowbluebell · 06/05/2020 22:59

Amanda Holden will be loving lockdown as she's locked in with the person she loves the most, herself.

Megatron · 06/05/2020 23:01

Jameela Jamil. Had to unfollow her because she is so completely insufferable. Couldn't stand her nonsense any longer.

Abreadsandwich · 06/05/2020 23:19

*LittlebillieI remember reading that his parents had spent £300k to make his career happen.

I think sam Smith is non binary so its "they" not "he".

I had to read the article about them having a breakdown on about day 2 of lockdown, several times til i realised it was only Sam Smith in the house and not several people!!

WinterBerry7 · 06/05/2020 23:36

I said the same about Michael Ball! But my mum won’t have any of it because she loves him. Captain Tom was doing perfectly well on his own, he didn’t need Michael coming in to share the spotlight.

Iamthewombat · 06/05/2020 23:51

I suspect that the McGuinnesses are foisting themselves upon us relentlessly because they are touting for work.

She gets the odd appearance on Real Housewives of Cheshire but she’s too boring to be more than a bit part player, ther to be offended by the more volatile characters. She’s pretty but she’s basically a pair of breasts who goes on about “me kids” and has little of interest to say.

Take Me Out has been cancelled, so he has no regular TV work. He gets the odd voiceover for ads, but that’s about it. He’s a massive arse; he was cheating on his wife with Nicole Appleton.

So I think that their remorseless LOOK AT ME LOOK AT MEEEEE LOOK AT US ME KIDS ME KIDS YES BUT LOOK AT US posturing is an attempt to build interest and get presenting jobs. They have been badly mis-advised by their management if so.

WinterBerry7 · 07/05/2020 00:13

Jesus Christ I’ve just looked at Christine McGuinness’ Instagram - why is she prancing around like she’s on babe station! Vile.

Whatarisk · 07/05/2020 00:44

May I suggest the antidote to these arseholes? Daisy May Cooper’s instagram. I LOVE her.

ILikeDemFriesNICannotLie · 07/05/2020 01:28

I'm not on social media so I miss so much of this cringe Sad Which to be fair I probably wouldn't appreciate properly since I don't know most of the people. But even tragic hermits like myself eventually find out about shit like Gal Gadot's fucking awful 'Imagine' video. I managed about 20 secs before I had to turn it off. I think watching that shit to the end without curling up into a non-responsive full body cringe could be a potential future Olympic sport.

On a more positive note the commentary on his dogs by Andrew Cotter on twitter has had me properly laughing. I think he's a golf commentator from what little not-dog-related-stuff I've bothered to read from his twitter which just seems to me to be a waste of comic talent. "The tail-wag of apology. Doesn't even mean it. I'll just stare at the trees, and think about getting a cat". Aye been there.

Gemma2019 · 07/05/2020 02:16

I think Paddy McGuinness still has Top Gear? Plus he will always get regular jobs with his mates Peter Kay and Keith Lemon.

It can't be easy with three disabled children so hats off to them for keeping up their fitness regimes and social media activities. Although I have crossed paths with the McGuinnesses in the past through work and people would be surprised to know that her mum does an enormous proportion of the childcare but is never recognised for it or mentioned.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 07/05/2020 02:57

@ILikeDemFriesNICannotLie, I have watched those dogs eat their dinner so many times and I'm still not bored Grin.
