Will I be going on holiday to Greece at the end of July?

We have booked flights and accommodation (in a private villa) separately. We can cancel the villa until the end of May and get a refund, bit would go if it was feasible. What do you think are our chances?

@Runbitchrun same here. Will you just cut your losses on the deposit?

This thread has made me realise that even if tourism is up and running, we won't be going. I am a single parent, if I get ill abroad my three children will be very frightened alone in a foreign country.

I suppose that could happen anyway with accidents or food poisoning but Covid is a serious risk.

The current plans in Greece are to open up in July and August for Eastern European tourists who have had fewer cases and are closer by so may be able to come by car. The Greek government have been very cautious so far and very successful in containing the virus, I don’t think they will take any risks and tourism from the UK is currently a huge risk. Things may change in a couple of months though.

My flight to states for 1st July has been cancelled already. So doubtful.

God I’m a bit worried about my booked holiday there for August 2021!

Frenchcroissant · 05/05/2020 21:40

I'm booked to go to Spain end of July and I'm hopeful we'll be able to go. I did ask here a couple of weeks ago and mostly everyone said it probably won't be happening. Spain like Greece live off tourism and they are opening up. We'll just have to wait and see, fingers crossed!!

I’d say around 5%. Even then would you want to ?! The airport ! The plane ! The insurance which wouldn’t cover you. What if you become ill. Might you have to isolate there or back here ?? Seems about 3 or 4 months too early to me.

Obbydoo · 05/05/2020 22:25

No chance!

amijustparanoidorjuststoned · 05/05/2020 22:56

Sorry OP... but I highly doubt anybody is going abroad on holiday until 2021.

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 07/05/2020 14:14

Amijustparanoid some people are travelling now

Flights are still going (some), people are still on them

Airports never did shut
