I thought only teenage boys did this??
So annoying?? He's almost middle aged, all I can hear is button mashing and
F#@k!!! F#@£&G F#&ER!!!
F@#K OFF!! You c#@t!!

Really?? I've said stop it, I'm sure the kids can hear you, but no no. It's a real life or death situation if you can't kill the dragon with your elderflower potions.

Pours wine

Or is your DH channeling Barret?

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 02/05/2020 22:29

My DS does this (I pretend I don't hear the swearing, he doesn't swear in front of me) and I assumed it was just a gamer thing Grin

SisyphusDad · 02/05/2020 22:29

You should not hear DS13 when he gets overly involved in a game. I allow him a fair degree of licence but I do tell him to tone the excesses down. My view: at least it allows him an outlet, and I do try and check that his friends give as good as they get. They do.

RebelWhoWashesFor19Seconds · 03/05/2020 00:12

Sounds pretty normal. Computer gaming is a multi billion pound industry. There's countless games aged 18+. It's not children alone keeping the money flowing in.

How grim. I can’t understand why grown men do this. If my kids did it I’d flip off the wifi. But husbands??!!

I can't understand how people can turn their nose up at gaming, acting like they're above it but will watch the footie every week, or watch Love Island or the soaps. You might think Call of Duty is pathetic just as someone else thinks the same of watching a made up tv show every night about the comings and goings of a bunch of folk living in a street of terraced houses up North, saying shit like "Ey up love! What's fer tea?"

iklboo · 03/05/2020 00:19

DH works very hard at a stressful job. If he can let off steam / relax by gaming fair play to him. There's nothing 'grim' (are we in the 1800s?) about it.

PickAChew · 03/05/2020 00:22

This is a hill I'm prepared to die on. I get really upset when dh does this. I generally close the door on this and point out that neither I nor the kids want to listen to it.

randomguy12 · 03/05/2020 00:23

I sound like your DH OP😂

PickAChew · 03/05/2020 00:23

And no, I don't watch footie.

PickAChew · 03/05/2020 00:24

Or love Island, or soaps.

RebelWhoWashesFor19Seconds · 03/05/2020 00:32

You may not do those @PickAChew but I will bet my life there's something which you enjoy that someone else out there thinks is pathetic. My point is, there's no need for people to be sneery about something millions of people enjoy as if they're better because they don't do it.

Theeighthelephant · 03/05/2020 00:35

I don't think FFS is online.

Chillipeanuts · 03/05/2020 00:37

He’s swearing at a screen. You’re pouring wine. We’re all doing things we probably shouldn’t be right now. Live and let live.

PickAChew · 03/05/2020 00:38

You are not enjoying something if you are ranting and swearing at it, to the detriment of everyone in earshot.

RebelWhoWashesFor19Seconds · 03/05/2020 00:41

Games are frustrating and engaging. Getting heated playing it is no odder or sillier than sobbing at Titanic or the green mile. Or yelling out loud at the stupid woman walking into a serial killers house of horrors in a horror movie.

Weenurse · 03/05/2020 00:46

This is why we have man land down stairs and I have a big TV in the family room upstairs to watch my cooking shows 😁

PickAChew · 03/05/2020 00:50

I do game, rebel. I don't get over invested in any of that stuff, though.you keep suggesting alternatives to try to justify yourself, but none of it works.

When dh gets over emotional at games, I feel on edge and both of our teens get really upset. Nothing is OK in that scenario. It's a fucking game and not worth upsetting the people you are supposed to care about for.

araiwa · 03/05/2020 03:31

Yelling at games is standard regardless of sex and age

SpiritEssence · 03/05/2020 06:01

I use to play world of warcraft and do raids and use to swear my head off when someone use to wipe us during a boss fight Grin

hiddenmnetter · 03/05/2020 06:15

I saw someone playing the ff7 remake and it looked amazing. I'm trying to decide if I want it on PS4 or PC 🤣

FrowningFlamingo · 03/05/2020 06:30

@iklboo oh the tongue out. Makes me heave.
Mine also does sharp dramatic intakes of breath. Really irritating. I have to leave the room or wear headphones.
Luckily he only plays the games a few times a year.

MsChatterbox · 03/05/2020 06:47

My husband is the same. He also bangs his fists on the table. I find it so annoying and find him really unattractive when he's playing games!! But so long as he only does it when our son is in bed and I can hide away in the bath then I can just ignore it for the best part.

EnterFunnyNameHere · 03/05/2020 07:02

Lots of people swear when frustrated. So long as they aren't genuinely angered by gaming (as in carrying over that anger to real life) it's just an outlet...

iklboo · 03/05/2020 13:22

@FrowningFlamingo - if DH wears headphones while playing he breathes REALLY LOUDLY and grunts & snorts. It's horrible.

Kimtendo · 03/05/2020 13:25

Unbelievable! He swore? At an Xbox game? Honey you need to get out of there fast, one minute he's shouting at a bunch of pixels because they couldn't prevent the opposition from scoring a flukey goal and the next he's chasing you down the corridor with an axe in his hand.

Dontcoughnearme · 03/05/2020 13:26

I'm the same on COD and Slitherio
