To think my UK holiday may still go ahead?

We're due to take the DC to Butlins at bognor regis on 29th June.

Their website states that their sites are closed until June 7th because of coronavirus restrictions.

How likely is it that we will be ok to go ahead by late June? Would you change your dates and rebook for later in the year?

I'm cautiously optimistic but unsure whether I'm being too optimistic?

I think it’s unlikely. I have a cottage holiday booked in August and think that is unlikely.

majesticallyawkward · 30/04/2020 21:04

Unlikely, if we are out of the current lockdown we will still be social distancing. I wouldn't count on any holidays this year.

Klonda · 30/04/2020 21:05

A crowded holiday park? I'd say little to no chance.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 30/04/2020 21:06

Haven extended to end of May two days ago

inwood · 30/04/2020 21:06

No chance imo

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 30/04/2020 21:07

I’m guessing it could be September

ProfChaos · 30/04/2020 21:09

Not a chance. I'd be cautiously optimistic about November, but not massively.

Klonda · 30/04/2020 21:10

@Tomorrowillbeachicken

We could well be seeing a second spike in infections come then.

Vandelion · 30/04/2020 21:11

DH thinks we're better off rebooking for next year and I was in agreement until I heard Boris' speech today which gave me a glimmer of hope.

It's not a big deal by any means and i certainly won't be moaning about it, I was just hoping it would be possible.

We have a UK holiday booked for end of June and I am pretty certain it won’t go ahead. The main attraction is a large swimming pool and I can’t imagine they will allow that to open so can’t see the point in taking the children even if the destination is open. We’ll be rebooking for next year Sad

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 30/04/2020 21:12

I was being optimistic. Was gonna day half term October but didn’t wanna depress anyone lol

luckylavender · 30/04/2020 21:14

I'd say no chance & I'd also say that Johnson likes to be liked. Lots of positive stuff, let the others give the bad / actual news.

Shamoo · 30/04/2020 21:15

Think they will allow some form of holidays late summer - just can’t see them losing the entire summer’s tourist trade as too many places will go under. June too early though I suspect.

ClashCityRocker · 30/04/2020 21:19

I'd rebook. I suppose there's a small chance that holiday cottages and things of that ilk will be allowed to operate, but I don't think holiday parks will for a while.

In any event, if a large part of the attraction is on site activities, I suspect most of these will be shut or very restricted even if the accommodation is open - so you may end up paying the money for a dire holiday sooner, rather than a better holiday later.

x2boys · 30/04/2020 21:22

I have one booked in August for Haven whilst I would Love to go realistically I think.it would be safer to postpone untill.next year

Blackandgreenteas · 30/04/2020 21:22

I would think unlikely, but not sure you have to make any decisions yet. You’ve got time to wait a bit and then rebook when you know more. I’m hoping our week at the end of August might go ahead, although not massively likely.

If I can’t do the UK trip I’ve got planned in December I’ll be fed up!

TokyoSushi · 30/04/2020 21:23

Simon Calder the travel guy often on TV said the other day on a radio 2 phone in that he'd be very surprised if you couldn't go on a UK holiday this summer, and also very surprised if you could go on a holiday that involved air travel at all in 2020.

We have a holiday cottage booked for the last week of August which I hope will go ahead, I think places like Haven/Center Parcs involving swimming pools and things like evening entertainment will be subject to more restrictions. Sad

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 30/04/2020 21:24

Simon Calder in March told people to carry on booking holidays for Easter do don’t take all he says at face value

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 30/04/2020 21:25

He also carried on booking flights for himself and is now having fun getting refunds

CountFosco · 30/04/2020 21:26

We've got an Airbnb booked for May half term, trying to decide when to rebook for, might go for next year in May again. Really hoping we can at least visit family in Scotland in the summer holidays but worried we won't be welcome in areas that have had very low numbers of cases. It is difficult to know what to do. Work wants us to space our holidays over the year as well.

WaterIsWide · 30/04/2020 21:26

DH and I have a UK holiday booked for July...…..

TokyoSushi · 30/04/2020 21:27

Oh did he? That's not good then!

bellinisurge · 30/04/2020 21:29

Tbe thought of having to spend every day worrying about food on the self catering holiday we'd planned for end July on South Coast makes me unhappy. Better to stay at home.

starsparkle08 · 30/04/2020 21:29

Sadly I don’t imagine they will open by then

Amanduh · 30/04/2020 21:29

I think holidays will happen, but not in June. August I’d say.
