Would you be an executor of will for a neighbour?

What does it involve?

Is there anything tricky to beware of?

I have known my neighbour for about 5 years but we don't know them that well IYSWIM. They are really nice.

They asked me a couple of weeks ago and I need to let them know. I feel a bit stressed about the legal aspect of it.

TIA

I've done it once and would absolutely never do it again.

Forgot to add.. in the two "simple but turned into stressful hell" ones I Executed, the 1st took 2yrs before mostly complete. The other took about 3years but that had massive delays due to tax issues.

Straightforward my arse.

I will never get that time back and it isn't a simple paperwork job. I had to take time out to attend probate Sig appointments, get more ID. Endless scrambling around crap access to paperwork to even get simple things like a pension stopped! BT wouldnt even talk to me as the bill payer couldn't pass their security questions i.e. because they were dead! Another round of letters!

My blood pressure is rising just thinking about those experiences.

Not a chance!!!! I would suggest solicitor or beneficiaries.
