Men at work apologise for swearing in front of me

In the business I work in people don’t swear that much but that kind of language does get used in general conversations.

I’ve noticed this more since working remotely, I work in a male dominated industry and one of the managers started apologising to me specifically (the only female) in virtual meetings when he swore. Now everyone else is doing it. I have said that the swearing doesn’t bother me.

AIBU for this to bother me? The men don’t apologise to each other when they swear 🙄 and now they do it on client meetings too.

I walked past 2 old men who had stopped to walk thier dogs and were looking at a bridge. And swearing in thier conversation about something or other. Both were like oooh sorry for swearing, shouldn't swear in front of a lady. They looked a bit shocked when I said I'm no lady I swear like a fucking trooper in work, I've used worse language lol
I dont know if it irritates me or not

It's very Male dominated at work. I've notice the ones that apologise for swearing tend to be the men in thier 50 and 60s and the most sexist and smutty of them all.

The younger lads dont give a shit and treat you as equals

Geez too many women on here happy to let men treat them different and be sexist.

but I am different, I am not one of the men, I do not want to be treated as "equal" or one of their mates. I prefer to have a bit of respect and old fashion manners. It never stopped my voice from being heard and me being promoted above the rest of them.

Women who are trying to hard are absolutely cringey. It doesn't help them either. Get that massive chip on your shoulder, stop picturing yourself as a weak victim and get on with it. It will give you much better results.

People finding it "hilarious" because someone said Fuck need to grow up.

This!! Exactly this!

I get this all the time at work. I don’t think I swear that much, but I definitely do.

It’s that kind of sexist ‘chivalrous’ stuff that makes you look like an uptight lunatic if you object.

This drives me nuts too. Is definitely a form of sexism and effectively singles out the woman in the room. Just tell them you don't like it- I've usually found that's enough to make it stop as when they know you don't like it. Otherwise join them in their potty mouth ways; it'll give them a bit of a shock but should stop them apologising.

I also just sometimes shrug and say I use/have heard/know far worse words.
