Not sure this is the right place for this but I need help!

I am looking for recommendations for a VAX cleaner or anything of the sort that is able to clean the worse stain imaginable, I am panicking.

I was going to rent a rug dr however that's not an option due to the pandemic and I would be looking to purchase off of littlewoods.

Please can you help me Sad

cold water washing up liquid & damp cloth & dry cloth
what is the stain - please don't use salt its used
when you dye clothes to hold colour
try a small patch first don't make the carpet wet just slightly damp -I use a tiny bit of neat washing up liquid & than the slightly damp cloth & rub in circle but don't expand beyond stain on to the clean bit than rinse off with clean damp cloth

mumwon · 26/04/2020 18:02

tea & blood (& other biological stains) use cold first because warm water sets stains

Haggisfish · 26/04/2020 18:04

And if it’s a bodily fluid, use A strong solution of biological
Washing powder on it.

I’ve got rid of some horrendous stains with Vanish- the carpet spray in a pink bottle and the bar that looks like soap.

LakieLady · 26/04/2020 18:17

I think we need to know what the stain is in order to give the correct advice.

Biological detergent is remarkably good on a lot of stains. It works wonders on dog shit.

MoonlightMistletoe · 26/04/2020 18:18

Sorry I should have put it in my OP,

It's a water based ink - half a bottle of it Sad
Yesterday I had done the blotting process and I honestly thought I was getting somewhere until I woke up and it's spread and is much much worse. It's Blue on a sandy colour carpet 😭

Why are you panicking? Is it not your carpet? I think you need to give more information on the worst stain imaginable.

Most carpet stains will come out by soaking in Vanish as recommended and good old fashioned elbow grease.

If not, it would be possible to order a Vax carpet cleaning machine online. Just look at the reviews first.
If it's a small room, it might be more economical to buy a nice rug!

SmileyClare · 26/04/2020 18:26

Oh right, it's ink. Yes the carpet might well be destroyed in that case. Sad

MoonlightMistletoe · 26/04/2020 18:31

Sorry @SmileyClare I didn't want to be outing I am panicking because I'm renting so a rug is no good to me. I even tried using my hoover which has a water suction option was all going well until I turned around to find it all splattered up the wall behind me from the hoover vent. Luckily it wiped off the wall very easily.

If I get a VAX it won't damage it or stain it so when I go over the other areas of the house leave a tint of blue behind will it? Proper nightmare!

Depends on the carpet. If its acrylic based and the ink is quink - you can use a bit of thin bleach. Do a spot test first obviously. Otherwise, lots of soap and water and we have also used a Dr Beckmann cleaner - the bottle has a brush on the end and is excellent. Worth a try??

mencken · 26/04/2020 18:42

while cleaning efforts are good, if this is England the deposit deduction will be pro-rated for the area of the carpet damaged with an allowance for its age. Unless the carpet was almost new when you moved in and you aren't staying long, the deduction will be bugger all.

troppibambini · 26/04/2020 18:42

Dr beckmans is definitely worth trying. It's got rid of red wine from a cream carpet for me before also worked on cat sick and various other not pleasant stains.

SmileyClare · 26/04/2020 18:51

Oh dear yes I can see why you're panicking.

It might be possible to get a carpet cleaning professional round? Lots of self employed people are still working as long as they can stick to distancing guidelines. You could go out for an hour while it's being done? One room would cost about £50/60 to clean professionally.
Or perhaps someone you know locally would let you borrow a Vax? They're very expensive to buy, especially if it doesn't work!

Alsohuman · 26/04/2020 18:55

Vanish make a carpet and upholstery spray that’s really effective. It got a port stain out of our cream carpet.

Mustrryharder · 26/04/2020 18:56

We got fluorescent pink dye out of our cream carpet using white spirit and blotting

Twofurrycatsagain · 26/04/2020 19:02

I don't know if this would work on carpet but hairspray is supposed to get ink out of clothes?

Smillar2020 · 26/04/2020 19:04

Bio washing powder and a steam cleaner - I had a Vax carpet washer but my steam cleaner is far more effective at lifting stains

Smillar2020 · 26/04/2020 19:05

And carpet pet stain remover will literally remove ANYTHING

MoonlightMistletoe · 26/04/2020 19:20

Ok, lots of things here to try Thankyou!

For an idea of size it looks like a puddle 3ft long 2ft wide and some smaller patches around it it's massive for a stain.

I will experiment with the different products suggested on the smaller patches. If that fails I will go ahead with a VAX cleaner because it literally looks like It needs sucking up as the blotting made it worse.

Spot test with flash bleach blotted with a baby wipe! There is hope, Thankyou for the bleach suggestion.

A decent carpet cleaner will cost about £300, how big is the room. How long have you lived there, what type of carpet is it.

It's probably worth getting it deducted from your deposit and owning up to your LL.

radioband · 26/04/2020 19:36

You'd be best getting a professional out when the pandemic is over.

NikeDeLaSwoosh · 26/04/2020 19:40

if this is England the deposit deduction will be pro-rated for the area of the carpet damaged with an allowance for its age

Where have you got this from?

We've just had to withhold the entirety of our tenant's deposit due to ruined carpets.
