Help others expand their vocabulary Grin

I like ‘anthropomorphise’ and ‘Schadenfreude’
But so rarely get to use them in a sentence. So it feels good to do that here!

Well, Wrens like living in holes (kettles, welly boots, plant pots, holes in walls and trees and suchlike) and scuttling around in the undergrowth after bugs and spiders. Hole dweller or creeper makes sense to me.

You're right, it does make sense from a logical point of view. "Troglodyte" just sounds so sort of human though - I imagine this hairy bloke in an animal skin, carrying a club, not a tiny, round little bird.

Undulating and plinth, two deeply pleasing words, especially if spoken in Yorkshire...

ChicChicChicChiclana · 27/04/2020 15:57

Schminkypinky (it still counts if it's a made up word from The Fast Show doesn't it?)

StraightAndNarrow · 27/04/2020 15:58

Melancholy. It seems a bit Shakespearean for every day use, but it’s such a pretty word.

Anaphylactic. I like the sounds in this word. Luckily, I don’t have much use for it.

Came a bit late to the thread, and am astonished nobody has said exacerbate yet. Another one for crepuscular, and I love my late DM's favorite fardel (or fardle)
