.....Get on with some homework?

Anyone here struggling with their year 11?

I get that having the rug pulled from under their feet was brutal re school and GCSE's but DD refuses to get up, argues, and is not attempting to keep up with the subjects she will need for A levels.

Please tell me your yr 11 is the same!

Mine is doing fuck all! Not even getting up until 1pm most days. I wish he'd read a book - any book - and I'd be happy.

HAHA ! He doesn't read books!!!!! Defaults to xbox at all available opportunities ..when he's not got his hand in the fridge..

My DDs school has been setting work for her everyday and has said they will use some of this towards predicting her GCSE grades. So I'm nagging her everyday to do it and it's causing a lot of tension. Has anyone else had schools tell them they will be using work set now towards grades?

No homework is being set for year 11 here.

DS in year 11 at a grammar is doing some french vocab (most days or so he tells me), doing an online maths course 45 minutes every morning (transition from GCSE to A level as recommended by his school as he wants to study Maths and further maths and physics at A level) and he has made a half arsed attempt at an EPQ project. He is also keeping in touch with his friends via SM, X box and they take turns to each host a quiz via Zoom each week.

DS’s school have told the kids and the parents that info about grades has already been submitted.

Those of you whose schools are saying work now will go towards students' grades are being misinformed.

I have a Y11 and a Y13 their school is officially out as of the 8th so they are getting no more education

DS (y13) was meant to have had his first A level Monday

DS2 is at internet school so all lessons continuing as normal. He is 'doing' iGSCE maths early (currently year 9) and his predicted grade has been already submitted by his teacher to the exam centre who have submitted it to the exam board. However to add to evidence from mocks, homework etc additional assessments are still being set to add to evidence.

Some exam boards seem to have said no further assessment since lockdown will be accepted but Cambridge International seem to be telling schools/exam centres that the cut-off for supporting evidence is not til end of May/beginning of June (when the exams would have been) and may be submitted to the exam board after this time in support of predicted grades. As he is taking the qualification early, is an external candidate and is predicted level 9/A* evidence is likely to be required.
