Celebrities making their children famous

Just seen the advert of Chris Evans for Virgin Radio and it’s gives me the rage. His son is now relatively famous at an age when he has no real understanding of what that means. I think this is irresponsible parenting especially coming from someone who has been honest about the struggles that being famous can bring.
Various other celebrities have done the same thing and it ends up with their children being famous for who their parents are and it hasn’t always gone well.

YANBU

It’s always gone on though - Zoe Ball, Claudia Winkleman, Chloe Madeley etc etc Some inherit more natural talent than others...

What does Claudia Winklemans children do? I thought she kept them quite private?

Or do you mean it's because she was a journalists offspring?

MorganKitten · 26/04/2020 16:01

Michael Goves daughter’s Instagram on the other hand shock is very famous at the moment. I can’t imagine they ‘cultivated’ that.

She smokes weed on tiktok and pretends she’s poor....

bruffin · 26/04/2020 16:07

Coveting
think you misunderstood

These all had famous parents, not about their parents. Claudia Winkleman's DM is Eve Pollard a well known journalist

bruffin · 26/04/2020 16:07

parents.
children not parents

SemperIdem · 26/04/2020 16:09

@Crinkle77 have you not seen Brooklyn Beckham’s photography book? It is fair to say he is not remotely talented at it. My 4 year old can take clearer shots. Have a google before you think I am stealth boasting about my own child’s abilities Grin

Lordfrontpaw · 26/04/2020 16:15

I thought he got borrrrrrred with photography after he got his book published after about ten minutes in the industry.

bruffin · 26/04/2020 16:24

But then Linda Mccartney was an awful photographer and tried to trade on the name Eastman even though she wasnt related and not very good on the drums either.

Crinkle77 · 26/04/2020 16:25

@SemperIdem I don't really know anything about photography so can't really comment. He's young and just starting out surely it's a skill that has to be developed (pun intended).

GulliBelle · 26/04/2020 16:27

I've just googled BB's photography. It's not very good is it? Although I am quite taken by the one of the elephant that looks like a giant penis.

nitgel · 26/04/2020 16:29

i worked in an ad agency, it was full of relatives of the Chief Exec, I imagine it happens everywhere. It's pretty grim but has always been so..

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 26/04/2020 16:31

Brooklyn beckham is to photography what I am to marathon running

Redglitter · 26/04/2020 16:32

I think to say Chris Evans son is now famous is pushing it a bit. Theres nothing to indicate this is anything more than a one off. The advert works because it's his son. I think your argument would be more valid if youd used Brooklyn Beckham or Chloe Madeley as an example

I liked Chris' advert. Getting the rage from it seems ott

IHaveBrilloHair · 26/04/2020 16:36

Brooklyn's photography Grin

SturdyFriend · 26/04/2020 16:37

Listeners to the breakfast show were hearing from Noah for years. It does make me uneasy just because he's young and clearly can't understand fame/celebrity and all the implications unlike, say, an adult child getting a job in an office in Surbiton.

covetingthepreciousthings · 26/04/2020 16:49

I guess i would rather the likes of Brooklyn Beckham trying to make a go out of something considering he's old enough to consent and run his own Instagram accounts than all the insta mums and dads who thrust their children's lives in front of the cameras 24/7 and document every little thing.

covetingthepreciousthings · 26/04/2020 16:51

I find it a bit hypocritical and cringey that Peter Andre now seems to be trying to launch Princess into a music career.

Hypocritical because it seems his other 2 children don't even get their faces shown on social media I don't think..

JemSynergy · 26/04/2020 16:51

It has gone on forever, I have noticed it more now because of social media, they are all at it selling their kids on their platforms. You've only got to on on instagram and see celebs promoting their kids singing etc.

JemSynergy · 26/04/2020 16:53

Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsey are and have been plugging their kids for ages too.

JudgeRindersMinder · 26/04/2020 16:55

I haven’t seen or heard the advert but I stopped listening to Chris Evans show because I was fed up of hearing his son every 2nd day

amijustparanoidorjuststoned · 26/04/2020 16:56

I completely agree. YANBU. Children have no concept of fame, especially where their parents are involved.

I also really don't agree that certain celebrities post photos of their children all over social media without their kids consent. But I appreciate that I might be being precious.

Abreadsandwich · 26/04/2020 17:01

One of the beckhams son's had a christmas single I think, and one was meant to be a budding tennis star (although I'm not sure this was true outside their own family) ...I dont know what their plans are for Harper.

Subeccoo · 26/04/2020 17:13

I think the ad is adorable, I have a really soft spot for CE. Whether it's ok or not, I'm sure he's a great dad who will look out for his kids.

ZaraW · 26/04/2020 17:14

The Bekhams ARE the worst. I remember a post on here a few years ago where someone posted Brooklyn's efforts on an African safari from his book. It was embarrassing. A child of five could have done a better job. His mother gives articles saying how talented he is and he earned the Burberry campaign with a straight face. The other one wants to be a model....

Lordfrontpaw · 26/04/2020 17:18

As long as none of the beckham kids fancy becoming a heart surgeon or air traffic controller, I think the world can suffer another mediocre model, pop star or photographer...
