To be so bored of my lifelong weight battle

I have a happy weight but it’s an absolute daily battle to stay at it. I am 5’7 and my ideal weight is probably 10 1/2 stone, I am happy hovering around 11 stone and since the lockdown I am now 11,11 and so fed up! I eat really healthily, track on an app, exercise every other day (running, Joe wicks etc) and barely drink. I am perimenopausal which is probably a factor in this as seem to be running to stand still at the moment- I am 47.

I am SO utterly sick of it - bored of it- I want to stay a size 12 as it’s what I have been all my life. I got to 11 stone last year by doing fast 800 and felt really great, the best in years but now since being cooped up, it’s all gone back on and it’s not shifting. It’s making me so fed up! Aibu? Any thoughts? I track everything & try to follow a Mediterranean diet too! Is it mid life kicking in?

I can only maintain my weight by exercising daily. The recommended three times a week is not enough when you get older.
We need to incorporate exercise into our everyday life.. We need to do much more walking, do some weight bearing exercise and watch what we eat.

People often underestimate how much food they eat, even when supposedly tracking their calories.

In a recent interview Naomi Campbell said she only had one meal day and often she’d only have a liquid meal. Most thin people are thin because they don’t eat very much.

I find the only way to stay virtuous is to not have shit in the house.

Dear God! I read that as "I find the only way to stay virtuous is to not have a shit in the house."

I have found it easier to stabilise since I adopted a Mediterranean diet, but counted calories just for a month or two on MyFitnessPal. It helped me see where I was wasting them. I also went through a phase where I gained anyway, so I upped my vegetable intake (I now make myself eat fruit and/or veg with every meal),. I also replaced evening snacks with two or three filling but low calorie options-eg fat free or low fat Greek yogurt with raspberries. Also, despite it being very unfashionable on Mumsnet, I east enough carbs to keep me full, and I'm happy that I'm getting 60g protein. And fish can be very low in calories too.

Basically, I eat plenty but I'm careful what. Although I dint follow any particular 'diet' these days.

Me too.

Weight or percentage of body fat? Based on my own experience, I suspect the latter.

OK, body fat I guess Smile to be completely accurate. However my body fat and weight are linked. I only have the capacity to put on so much muscle without the aid of steriods and so any excess weight will invariably increase the body fat.

I was just trying to get over that, while it's hard work, I consider it a price worth paying. I get quite a few negative comments - some of them on here - suggesting that, as I'm of a certain age (I'm 53 btw; I'm not dead!), I should accept being a couple of stones heaver and a size 12. While there's absolutely nothing wrong with being a size 12, or any other possible size, it doesn't aIign with my goals and ambitions.

So, I'll carry on counting and hope to get on stage next year Smile

Nor mine. I have been a size 12 (at 5'6") but I much prefer the size and physique I am now. And, yes, it is worth the hard work.
