Clapping, fireworks, spoons and saucepans...

We just cower at home behind closed curtains.

Mummyshark2019 · 23/04/2020 20:03

I know. We have them going off here now. Any excuse to make a racket.

BruceAndNosh · 23/04/2020 20:03

No

RedDiamond · 23/04/2020 20:04

Fireworks have happened since this started where I live BUT it is only the one firework.

babychange12 · 23/04/2020 20:05

Just annoyed as it woke DS up after an hour of me trying to put him to sleep Angry

Floridasunset · 23/04/2020 20:06

Fireworks, pots and pans, whistling. Just woke ds1 up Angry

couchlover · 23/04/2020 20:06

Oh gosh no. It's bad enough they do pots and pans. I'm finding the whole thong tedious. I totally respect and I'm thankful for all key workers but weekly clapping is annoying.

RedDiamond · 23/04/2020 20:09

Try living next door to me. They have bought their DS a drum kit and he's just been out banging and crashing on it. For some strange reason tonight, no one else went out so they did not have an audience and only lasted 1.5 mins before picking up said drum kit and going back inside.

PeachesAndPops · 23/04/2020 20:09

Firework so loud and close the house shook! Gave me palpitations! Screaming, banging of pots of pans, it’s too much. A simple clap (or not) would suffice. Still feel shaken.

PeachesAndPops · 23/04/2020 20:10

It’s not even dark!

HunterHearstHelmsley · 23/04/2020 20:10

Its scaring the birds! Absolutely ridiculous. Clapping is one thing but fireworks, pots and pans etc. Is over the top.

GivenchyDahhling · 23/04/2020 20:10

Yep, firework here too every week. I mean, it’s still completely light outside...

Yugi · 23/04/2020 20:10

In my town all the ships in harbour sound their horns. No chance of sleeping through that.

User11111111 · 23/04/2020 20:11

Next door neighbour with a metal bin lid and wooden spoon. I’m all for clapping but surely that’s unnecessary!!

boylovesmeerkats · 23/04/2020 20:11

Yes and here, I hide too. Completely respect and appreciate the NHS and key workers of which I am one but the neighbours aren't doing a great job of the lockdown now, they're all out there hanging out for the next hour probably. I really disagree with it being a social thing, surely it defeats the point.

babychange12 · 23/04/2020 20:12

Florida commiserations ThanksWine woke my DS up as well

Eurgh Yugi that sounds even worse!

Twigletfairy · 23/04/2020 20:13

Yeah my toddler was woken up by fireworks too. I know some people say it's just one night blah, blah, blah but it generally means she will be unsettled all night so will be a grump in the morning. She is a shit sleeper as it is. All for fireworks set off when it's still light outside

MoonlightMistletoe · 23/04/2020 20:13

Yeah fire works here too, we know it's going to happen that's why I put the kids to bed after the few minutes of noise hardly rocket science.

babychange12 · 23/04/2020 20:13

Where are they buying the fireworks from anyway?!

OP posts:
babychange12 · 23/04/2020 20:14

@MoonlightMistletoe easy if you have an older child, but I have a 7 week old who has been screaming non stop since 6.30 from over tiredness

HeIenaDove · 23/04/2020 20:15

Five fireworks went off here I guess the caring about the NHS doesnt stretch as far as not putting possible pressure on the burns unit.

We also had a blast of We Are The World at full volume. (Two weeks ago it was Heal The World)
From an area that predominantly voted Leave.

babychange12 · 23/04/2020 20:16

@HeIenaDove I thought we're not meant to listen to Michael Jackson anymore? GrinWink

OP posts:
Floridasunset · 23/04/2020 20:16

Thanks op, hope your DS settles back down Wine

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 23/04/2020 20:16

Dont get it..but as someone posted on my local group last week it's their right to do so. It shows they care..or something. Somehow. Even though clapping is fine...
Seems to be a endless supply of fireworks though

user1471453601 · 23/04/2020 20:17

I clap because of my lovely next door neighbour neighbour. She lives alone and her son works in the local hospital. She comes out to clap, so we do too, to show her that she's not on her own. We always have a chat aftewards. If course, we have offered more practical help.

What ever the reason you clap, it's valid
