Not strictly an aibu but just want to use the mumsnet hive mind. Does anyone know when Sainsbury’s will have delivery slots available for non vulnerable people. I keep on logging on and getting the same message

I managed to get a delivery slot for Sainsbury's at the weekend - took two weeks of trying - kept telling me they were prioritising vulnerable customers. I just tried again early one morning (really early, about 4.00 a.m.) and there were a few slots available. It said then that I wouldn't be able to book another one for at least 7 days. The cat was so relieved, she hates Lidl cat food!

PickAChew · 29/04/2020 16:40

Just checked the app and we have pretty much every possible slot available for the next week but no clolick and collect slots.

TheGreatWave · 29/04/2020 17:21

I can only see one week at a time but I have multiple days and slots to choose from. It is only now that it is like this.

I am a delivery pass holder.

infernotowering · 29/04/2020 17:24

I've been with Sainsbury's for ages and have a delivery pass and we've had a weekly shop delivered since lockdown started. We're not vulnerable or anything. I didn't realise people were still struggling actually! Hope you get something soon.

zozozoe · 29/04/2020 17:39

@lemontreebird no it doesn’t - it’s ‘tuno’ which is some kind of fake fish thing.

Hollywhiskey · 29/04/2020 17:57

I just looked and I could get a slot anytime next Wednesday. It would definitely be by postcode because the delivery is made by your local store so it depends what the demand is in your area.
We had a while of not being able to get a slot but it seems back to normal now and we've had a weekly slot for the past maybe three weeks.
I'm not on the shielding list but I do have a delivery pass and have done for years.

Starksforthewin · 29/04/2020 18:09

Ocado have been pants. I’ve been a Delivery Pass holder since the bloody thing was invented and slots not showing up for me, and I check, a lot!

Still, I got the cheery email telling me my Delivery Pass payment had been taken. Once I can communicate with them, I will be getting rid.

Also, I had one of the M&S fruit boxes last week and it was absolutely fantastic.
Beautiful quality fruit, lots of it, and fresh as anything because the packaging is so good. Value at £20 too.

opticaldelusion · 29/04/2020 18:43

Why can't you go to the supermarket?

JimmyTheWeed · 29/04/2020 18:52

I can't get a delivery from anywhere. I've tried Tesco,Sainsburys,Morrisons,Asda and Ocado. Nothing. And I've received a letter saying that I'm 'extremely vulnerable'. I can't for the life of me work out how they are giving vulnerable people priority. I have accounts with Tesco,Sainsburys,Morrisons and Asda but haven't heard anything from any of them regarding this.

TheGreatWave · 29/04/2020 18:57

Jimmy have you registered on the government website?

How are you managing shopping at present?

JimmyTheWeed · 29/04/2020 19:19

TheGreatWave Thank you! I didn't realise that I had to register on the website to be eligible. Stupid,I know, but I thought that only entitled me to a 'basic supplies' delivery. So far,my Dd has been getting my shopping but she's still working and home schooling her daughter,so I feel a bit guilty putting upon her too much.

TheGreatWave · 29/04/2020 19:47

The registering seems to be the key in getting slots. Good luck and hopefully you should be able to get a slot soon.

Harrysmum2020 · 29/04/2020 19:52

Well we’re shielding on the vulnerable list and finally managed to get a slot it just came it was delivered in a small white van and was all in blue plastic bags not Sainsbury’s very odd did anyone else have this we’re about as central London as u can get!

Coffeepot72 · 29/04/2020 19:54

I am neither old nor vulnerable and have been getting Sainsbury’s deliveries for about 3 weeks now.

Harrysmum2020 · 29/04/2020 19:54

Oh and it was meant to come between 10-11 pm and they just turned up now no call to say it was early

DontTouchTheMoustache · 29/04/2020 19:58

Morrisons have been great, I only had one week I couldn't get a slot since it started and where I live there are lots of open slots for next week. Also the food boxes are available
I've also had very few subs or missing items and most of the limits on shopping have now been lifted

Hollywhiskey · 29/04/2020 21:24

@Harrysmum2020 mine was in blue bags too. I guess they've run out.

Coffeepot72 · 30/04/2020 07:43

Just logged on to Sainsbury’s again and delivery slots are available up to next Friday (8th May)

zozozoe · 30/04/2020 09:09

I’m a priority vulnerable and have never seen a message saying I can’t book another slot for 7 days. Had no idea that happened.

zozozoe · 30/04/2020 09:10

@Harrysmum2020 ours all come in blue bags too.

Yellowbutterfly1 · 30/04/2020 09:20

Ocado has only been good if you are on their ‘deemed worthy and privileged’ list.
They are still taking people’s delivery pass money but blocking a lot of people from having delivery slots if they are not worthy enough.

Fairylillie · 30/04/2020 09:25

If you do see a slot will you take one? I keep seeing delivery slots on my Tesco and ASDA apps but DP says it would be shameful to take one as we are able to go to the supermarket. We would be taking a slot from somebody vulnerable or shielding and all the neighbours would see that when the van turns up!

My sister and my niece are booking delivery slots and don't care what the neighbours think!

JacobReesMogadishu · 30/04/2020 09:27

I suspect unless the supermarkets buy a load more vans then this is the future for a long time, maybe the next year or more. Struggling to get slots.

I've never managed a tesco slot by staying up till midnight, I'm on the site from 11:30pm, get put in the queue and by 12:03 the slots are gone.

I've had the odd one looking at random times.
I've given up with sainsbury.

Morrisons I have a delivery pass with and have had better luck with them, not sure if it's because I have a pass.

JacobReesMogadishu · 30/04/2020 09:28

I'm not sure what my neighbours think of us when the delivery van turns up. One neighbour knows that dd is supposed to be shielded - but only because I mentioned it the other week. We don't tend to tell people about her health issues. The other neighbours don't know and it's not really their business.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 30/04/2020 09:47

Iceland release slots throughout the day, and can generally get delivery for in a couple of days in my area. Got a slot yesterday evening for delivery tomorrow
