Not strictly an aibu but just want to use the mumsnet hive mind. Does anyone know when Sainsbury’s will have delivery slots available for non vulnerable people. I keep on logging on and getting the same message

You can't even go further then a week ahead now.

DGRossetti · 23/04/2020 14:34

I think now they've got their priority lists better sorted

They haven't - they just palmed it of onto the government.

Iseethesilverlining · 23/04/2020 14:46

The Morrison’s boxes are great and there is no queue and no issues with delivery. You have to log onto their food box specific site - www.morrisons.com/food-boxes/boxes - and they have 7 different types. The quality has been very good.

CantStartAFire · 23/04/2020 15:44

I’m currently at home all day (have severe asthma) so have plenty of time to look for slots.
Since lockdown began I’ve managed to get a slot every week. The only supermarkets I can’t get slots with are Waitrose and Sainsburys.
We have a pass with Ocado and they’ve been pretty good at producing intermittent slots for us.
Each day I open all the supermarkets in my browser and just keep checking every hour or so. As I write this, I’ve just checked and Morrison’s have lots of slots available (Lancashire).
On a couple of occasions I’ve checked Iceland and picked up next day deliveries.
Obviously, I understand that not everyone has the time to spend all day looking.

TheGreatWave · 23/04/2020 15:44

I have to say Morrisons have really responded well to the situation. The food boxes are a fantastic offering, I hadn't realised they had expanded the range especially to include Ramadan.

ScarfLadysBag · 23/04/2020 16:22

M&S are doing food boxes now too:

Lazypuppy · 23/04/2020 16:23

Tesco release all their slots every day at midnight, is this not the same for all supermarkets?

TheGreatWave · 23/04/2020 17:09

lazy no, I think it is dreadful that Tesco continue to do so, especially as many most in need of them won't be able to stop up like that night after night.

Ghostlyglow · 23/04/2020 17:56

Have you tried Iceland? I'd never used them before but got a slot with them this week. Much less choice but decent basics and the fruit and veg was really good. I'll use them again.

TheGreatWave · 23/04/2020 18:16

I have Iceland coming tomorrow, there slots do tend to be released during the day. They are doing well overall too.

Darkstar4855 · 23/04/2020 18:45

My local Sainsbury’s is offering slots to delivery pass customers if they aren’t taken up by vulnerable people. They usually only come up a couple of days ahead for this reason.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 23/04/2020 18:48

i have a delivery pass, and haven't had any difficulty getting slots - no going online at midnight or anything silly. Locally our slots seem to be released three days at a time, about 4 days in advance IYSWIM. x

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 23/04/2020 18:49

i don't know where that rogue x came from. I'm not kissing, not in the current clime.

Greenscissors · 23/04/2020 18:54

I've actually found Sainsbury's quite good. As a Delivery Pass holder for a few years, I've been getting slots to send food to my parents (who have been waiting to register). The slots seem to come up quite randomly at any time of day, and normally only for the following few days.

onemouseplace · 23/04/2020 18:58

I’m a delivery pass holder as well and have managed to get a slots on a weekly basis for both DH’s elderly parents and us. It’s definitely postcode dependent as different days pop up with slots for our different postcodes and it’s just a case of checking the app reasonably regularly 3 - 4 days before we want a delivery.

onemouseplace · 23/04/2020 19:00

I certainly haven’t been waiting up until midnight, from memory I got slots last Sunday morning when I was still in bed for Thurs am for DH’s parents and Sat am for us.

Likethebattle · 23/04/2020 19:20

You have to keep trying, the doors are store specific so they don’t all get released over the country at one time. Each store releases them on their own timetable. I can usually get a click and collect for the following week at either of my local stores on a Saturday early evening. Have managed it 4 weeks in a row.

lemontreebird · 23/04/2020 19:25

The vegetarian Morrisons box has tuna in it...Biscuit

REdReDRE · 23/04/2020 19:30

I'm not a Sainsburys delivery pass holder and only managed to get my shielding parents a click and collect at totally random times. I am a Tesco pass holder and have had a delivery or click and collect every 10 days or so by staying up until midnight on a few devices as the queuing system seems a bit random.

IHaveBrilloHair · 23/04/2020 19:33

I couldn't even look for one until they contacted me yesterday as a vulnerable customer.
Now they have pretty much availability at all times.

SmallBearOwner · 23/04/2020 19:42

I reckon must be postcode lottery. I have a Sainsburys local to me (London), though I don't drive so can only buy what I can carry. I have shopped online with them before for bulky items shops and keep an online shopping list on there (which I usually use to form a physical shopping list I bring in store) and checked in to add 2 items. I looked on the delivery slots out of curiosity and there was LOADS of availability, for the next 4 days and week beyond. I waited over an hour to see if they were being snapped up by those more vulnerable, and they weren't so I grabbed one, ensuring I don't have to shop again for a fortnight. That was yesterday afternoon, about 3pm if it helps.

Bumblebee6789 · 23/04/2020 19:49

I’m shielding and can’t get a slot. Every time I try Sainsbury’s it just says I’m not on the vulnerable list even though I’ve had a letter and get the regular texts. How do you get registered for a vulnerable slot?

Blondiney · 24/04/2020 11:53

I've just noticed my local Waitrose is showing slots available for the first time since lockdown began.

Blondiney · 24/04/2020 11:55

Oh, looks like Sainsbury’s are now restricting delivery slots to one every 7 days.

I can still book click and collect whenever I want (although these seem to be coming up much less frequently than delivery slots for me)
