To think people shouldn't walk to my village?

Hello,

With the knowledge that this will make me sound quite snooty, I firstly apologise and explain it is because I worry for my own and family's safety as we are all asthmatic and at heightened risk from COVID-19.

We live in a very pretty little village, in a small conservation area in a semi rural location. We are about 2 miles from the nearest modern housing estate. Usually, the lane through the village has a couple of regular dog walkers.

Now that we are lockdown and people are getting out to exercise in the sun (great), the lane is like a motorway. There is a constant stream of people from the housing estate coming for their walk to the village. I understand it must be dull to walk around a modern housing estate. Over 500m there were 30 people. Usually you might see 1. We can't even go for a short walk without risk of coming into contact with people.

Entire large families are coming with 5-6 children out of control on bikes etc, treating the lane past our houses like a park. I've spotted people touching our walls, gates etc, even caught one nosing in the garden!

Many of these people are not staying into the side to observe social distancing, and have dogs off the lead that need to be fetched away.

AIBU to think people should stick to their own areas for their exercise? In a way, I something feel that if they wanted beautiful walks outside their front-door they should have coughed up the extra £100k to live here...

I live in a town but its surrounded by country side. I like running and sometimes I run around the estate but sometimes I like a longer run where i pass all sorts of houses (although i prefer running in country lanes with no houses)

Mixingitall · 21/04/2020 15:56

This has to be a joke to provoke some equally small minded responses.

OP are you a Daily Fail journalist?!!

MrsTerryPratchett · 21/04/2020 15:56

No, of course this thread isn't for real.

Shhhhhhhhhh it's funny at least.

AllPlayedOut · 21/04/2020 15:57

Xenia Are you a taxpayer? Something is making me think that you might be, but I'm not sure what. You should really try to remind us now and again if so.

livingmyslothlife · 21/04/2020 15:58

People really don't get what they deserve in life do they.

Alsohuman · 21/04/2020 15:58

🤣 @AllPlayedOut

Get a fucking grip. I am in the situation of domestic abuse from my husband. Also my eldest daughter is a nurse working with covid-19.

I am trapped at the moment. Worried sick for my daughter, and you are worried about your fucking village!

ImGoingSlightlyBrad · 21/04/2020 16:01

There must be people that rent also walking or are they banished to their rental homes forever?

I think it depends on whether or not they paid £100k for their rent...

Crabbo · 21/04/2020 16:02

It’s not YOUR village. It is the village that you live in. They have every right to be there.

cookingmywaythroughlockdown · 21/04/2020 16:06

BURN THEM! BURN THEM ALL!

DirtyTicket · 21/04/2020 16:07

Thus is 100% true and not made-up bollocks at all.

puffinandkoala · 21/04/2020 16:07

Maybe I should tweet the link to this thread to the Daily Heil...

Jaxhog · 21/04/2020 16:08

I sympathize. I live opposite a very small park. It is public land, but very rarely used by people other than residents. I would hate for non-residents to bring lots of unruly children and dogs to it, thus rendering it unusable for those of us who live there. We maintain it and keep it nice so WE can use it.

A few well considerate people and well-behaved kids and dogs is fine. But not a crowd of badly behaved and inconsiderate numptys.

MaisyMary77 · 21/04/2020 16:08

Wow! I live in a beautiful village on the edge of a huge nature reserve. I really can’t get worked up about the amount of people who are suddenly walking through it. It’s actually been quite nice having loads of people to say hello to on my mutt walk-usually I don’t see anyone.

GCAcademic · 21/04/2020 16:09

What a surprise, Xenia is the only person to agree with the OP.

Sabine123 · 21/04/2020 16:10

I am lost for words. You sound absolutely horrid !!

puffinandkoala · 21/04/2020 16:11

This isn't a wind-up by the way (well the snobby reference to the £100K extra for a house might be) because there's a village in Cheshire which has put signs up telling cyclists to go away, that they will be on CCTV etc.

Apparently when you cycle through Little Boddington, you shed the virus and it jumps over people's walls and through their windows, and gets into their gardens and houses and infects them.

derxa · 21/04/2020 16:12

If the farmers have to accept people walking on their land, I don't accept it. Dogs off the lead near ewes and lambs. Please be careful

puffinandkoala · 21/04/2020 16:12

I would hate for non-residents to bring lots of unruly children and dogs to it, thus rendering it unusable for those of us who live there

I beg your pardon?

BlackCoffeeExtraStrong · 21/04/2020 16:13

This can't be real! "They should have coughed up the extra 100k"? Shock

If this is real, then yes, yabCOMPLETELYu. People don't choose to cough up an extra 100k. Some have it, some don't. Get back to the real world. Yes, you sound very snobby.

Saying all that, I don't believe this is genuine.

CanIbesomeoneelse · 21/04/2020 16:13

Just as I started to think that this situation was bringing out the best in people and we had an “all in this together” attitude Sad

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 21/04/2020 16:13

Gosh! They are shit-kickers from a nearby ESTATE? Well, there goes the neighbourhood. Pass the smelling salts, please.

Precious.

Averyyounggrandmaofsix · 21/04/2020 16:14

Snooping in your garden or admiring your plants?

Bargainhuntbore · 21/04/2020 16:15

I live rurally and rarely see people about but in the past month its increased. Why now? Where the hell are they the rest of the year?
