Not on Flighttracker.

Also the newer versions of Starlink are being launched with less reflective coatings and sunshades on them to make them much less visible.

GreyHare · 19/04/2020 22:12

I saw them awhile back and got really freaked out by them until I googled what they were, it all felt very War of Worlds at the time.

minionsrule · 19/04/2020 22:16

Lol i'm in the North West and came in very excited around 9.30 telling DH and Ds about what i saw.
Thought it was some secret mission 😂

Geppili · 19/04/2020 22:21

I saw them! Am in South east! I thought ah the aliens are coming with PPE and covid tests! 😄

crambosk · 19/04/2020 22:26

i think there's another launch happening in roughly 50 mins so you might be able to see them again. @virtualastro's twitter is good for updates

Slith · 19/04/2020 22:29

Next launch is on the 23rd.

crambosk · 19/04/2020 22:35

this guy says there will be another in half hour but fainter and harder to see? another one tomorrow apparently at 10pm

lozster · 19/04/2020 22:39

Yes, visible in the northwest

SallyLovesCheese · 19/04/2020 22:40

I don't know about these Starlink satellites, but as a general rule if thumb, a plane beacon will flash and a satellite will be a constant light.

Slith · 19/04/2020 22:47

@crambosk

They're not launches, just the next time the previously launched satellites will pass overhead.

Slith · 19/04/2020 22:49

The ones we can see at the moment will be from the last launch on the 18th of March.

crambosk · 19/04/2020 23:10

@Slith ah OK, thanks!

crosspelican · 19/04/2020 23:11

I did not know about this and am v excited to check it out tomorrow - thank you!

notagaincharlie · 20/04/2020 21:26

My dh has got his whole office excited and they're all going to look tonight!

He asked if I'd like to be woken up to see them again - I said No Grin

For the past few weeks there has been a bright light in the sky , it sits alone and much closer and brighter than the stars . I thought it might be a drone or some kind of satellite

Long line of planes flying over or a series of satellites?
Coughsyrupsucks · 20/04/2020 21:40

They appear here tonight in East Anglia at 9.58 (ish). Getting something warm on to go out and see them. I’m fascinated.

FixTheBone · 20/04/2020 21:48

@Allihearischasemarshallskye

If it's WNW it's probably Venus.

Cherrysoup · 20/04/2020 21:54

@Allihearischasemarshallskye near the moon? Probably Venus.

Titsywoo · 20/04/2020 22:07

I couldn't see them! Saw two white lights moving west to east at the right time but no long line.

notimagain · 20/04/2020 22:09

Nice picture...As Fixthebone says if it's high in the west in the hours after sunset then it's almost certainly Venus.

TBH the Moon doesn't help over the next few nights since it's a morning object, rising shortly before sunrise..It will however will be visible once again in the evening sky in 5 or 6 days time.

MardiBras · 20/04/2020 22:13

I only saw one, very faint satellite 🙁
Venus is vey bright though

mommydragon · 20/04/2020 22:14

So no chance tonight? Been waiting since 9:50 and haven't seen them yet.

IsItIorAreTheOthersCrazy · 20/04/2020 22:16

South Wales here. We saw them last night, around 9:30pm, very odd. Definitely the StarLink satellites.

DH is out now looking for them again but the sky isn't so clear here tonight.
