AIBU?
Monthly treat box - Ideas please!
Poorpigletsrevenge · 18/04/2020 17:42
I would like to treat myself to a monthly box of surprise goodies and would love you to suggest which one I should get.
I don’t care if it’s makeup, kawaii, food items or craft things. I just want a little surprise each month. So I’m open to any suggestions, except for alcohol.
So AIBU to ask you what you recommend if you get a monthly treat box?
(Well yes, I probably am, but this place gets the most traffic)

I get Glossybox, I love it! It's a little surprise each month that I really enjoy.
I used to get Papergang, loved it but found i wasn't using a lot of the stuff so stopped getting it.
Used to get Monthly Pyjama Company box, which was fantastic for the first few months but I haven't received my March box yet, which is unsual for them. I stopped the subscription at the beginning of the month anyway as I can't afford £25 a month at the moment.
Subscribed today to the Pyjama Drama box, it's bimonthly so a bit more affordable, and all the reviews are great!

I’ve signed up to Glossybox for one month to see what I get. I’m then going to try Universal Yums and then work my way through all the cool ones suggested here.
I’m also going to order some for the sugar and vice jewellery for my birthday in a few months.
Please do keep the suggestions coming, this is such a welcome break from the news.

I can highly recommend InkDrops, getting my monthly envelope would be the highlight of my day. I also loved the personal touch with them, they feel a lot less “corporate” than some of the others. Sadly had to cancel whilst on mat leave but will be signing up again soon!!

I did this recently and got; fabfitfun, (pretty good for the introductory offer) Causebox (loads and loads of stuff but not really stuff I would generally want) Boxycharm (very good high end make up, but not really my thing) Birchbox (utter shite). It was fun getting loads of boxes and felt like a real treat on lockdown, but I think I will just stick to treating myself to things I love rather than random shite.

I have had both Birchbox and Glossybox in the past (several years ago in fact!) but agree with a PP that I started feeling overwhelmed by all the plastic ...
I currently have and love Reposed - it’s a book + something snacky like chocolate + one beauty product each month. Packaging is all cardboard and it fits through the letterbox. Also signed up to Scrawlrbox (art supplies) to help with lockdown sadness but not had that one yet.

I've had Papergang in the past and I think that both Spotlight Stationery and Boxcitement are better. Spotlight if you're more seriously into stationery and Boxcitement if you're more into the cute fun things.
I would love to get Causebox but I don't think they ship to the UK.

Following with interest as I have been subscribing to Birchbox for nearly 3 years but it can be a bit samey and I can count on one hand the times I’ve loved something enough to go on to purchase the full sized version. I may switch to glossybox for a while, or I like the idea of LiB where you get to choose your own products to try.
In December I won a 12 month subscription to Iggy Box in a Christmas competition on Instagram. It’s an artisan candle subscription. I’ve received 4 boxes so far and have been delighted with each one. It’s usually a soy based candle and you can choose small or large (I get the small ones), they are beautifully boxed and come with a little box of matches and a card telling you where the candle was produced (all sourced from other small ethical businesses), scent notes and estimated burn time. I usually light mine on a weekend evening and find they last until the next one arrives.

@RubaiyatOfAnyone some recent ones are here www.instagram.com/p/B9_iSm8DHYe/?igshid=1xz6l4omnpd0w (I have a lot of books and can’t remember where they all came from so had to search!). They are always books I hadn’t previously heard of, female focussed, can be hit or miss but have had some great ones.

If you like old books Prudence and the Crow is a lovely vintage paperback book subscription service, you get a book tailored to your interests and some other bits each month. I started it again as a lockdown treat to myself, received it yesterday and it made my day.
I have also just ordered Pipsticks so thank you for that. If you google discount codes some good ones come up, I got the (smaller) monthly box for $5.98 delivered with a code the other day. Will probably cancel after this one as how many stickers do you need? But I thought some would be nice for writing letters.
