Do you weigh out salad and fruit?

Just that really...would be good to have some advice if anyone could shed any light?

I've started up my healthy eating again (something to focus on at the moment) and want to [steadily] lose a couple of stone.

Currently I'm only weighing out potatoes, pasta and measuring out milk. Only having one banana a day too, as they are high in calories.

I read online that you are meant to weigh out all food, including salad/veg...but other sources are saying only weigh out carbs?

I'm confused! Any fitness gurus out there that can help? Sorry this probably isn't an AIBU.

Yes I have to clarify that carb rich vegetables do get weighed of course. But not carrots, lettuce, spinach, broccoli - the ones where I noticed that 100 g had so little. In the beginning on MFP I’d add them but I quickly decided not to bother worrying about that because it’s not lettuce making me overweight ;).I use the calorie counting to be a bit more aware of my portion sizes in the long run.

Advid calorie counter here with previous eating disorders. I don't count vegetables or fruit. For me - if I start counting calories in fruit, I'll start avoiding it - And I don't think I should feel bad about eating an apple!

I lost loads of weight last year and calorie counted. I had two pieces of any fruit a day, which I didn't count. I had small amounts of pasta/bread/potatoes/rice (all wholegrain/unrefined). I ate shed loads of green veg, salad, tomatoes, peppers etc, and didn't weigh them.
I made sure the calories I did control only amounted to 1200 a day - the stuff like the two portions of fruit and all the veg I didn't count.
Lost 4 stone over 10 months.

If you want your exact macros, weigh it. But I think you’d only bother if you were in training for something pretty intense. The average person on a diet probably doesn’t need to weigh it.

Nope. The only thing I portion control on a salad is cheese and dressing.

Guys thank you all for your responses. So far I've just been weighing out potatoes and pasta, avoiding bread. Also measuring milk. Weighing out cereal too (just bought that Jordan's muesli stuff with chocolate, it's right nice). Doing exercise and going on daily walks too.

Will weigh myself at the end of the week and hopefully will see a difference.
