We were discussing the need for fruit pickers this morning and wondering where they would be housed. I suggested that the job would be “all found”. Partner has never heard of this. I don’t think it’s that unusual, is it??

WitchQueenofDarkness · 18/04/2020 12:49

Yes - means food and accommodation included.

It's not an expression I've heard for years though.

lemontreebird · 18/04/2020 12:50

Yes, I've heard of it and probabky used it, back in the day.

BelieveInPeople · 18/04/2020 12:50

Never heard it. Mind I had never heard the word ‘furlough’ before last month

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 18/04/2020 12:52

All found can vary a bit. You might be provided with food to cook or you might get cooked meals.

IsadoraQuagmire · 18/04/2020 12:52

Yes, though I've only read it in novels, I don't think I've heard anyone say it.

BeetrootRocks · 18/04/2020 12:53

SquatBetty · 18/04/2020 12:54

No never heard of it

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 18/04/2020 12:55

I was employed all found as a teenager in the 80s. It does mean that you can save almost all of what you earn.

AwkwardSquad · 18/04/2020 12:56

Yes, heard of it.

HollowTalk · 18/04/2020 12:56

Yes, I know what it means. I used to see jobs in hotels that would say "all found" - I was always jealous as they'd keep so much of their wages just for spending (though they probably earned very little anyway.)

NiteFlights · 18/04/2020 12:57

Yes, but I would think it’s a bit archaic perhaps.

nameymcnamechangeagain · 18/04/2020 12:58

Never heard of it!

Fifthtimelucky · 18/04/2020 12:58

I'm familiar with it as a phrase used in job adverts for jobs like nannies and live/in jobs in hotels. I might be older than most posters though! (late 50s).

Puddlesplasher · 18/04/2020 12:59

Never heard of it.

eurochick · 18/04/2020 13:00

Never heard of it.

Pelleas · 18/04/2020 13:01

Yes. It's a slightly old-fashioned expression but I'm familiar with it.
