I will NOT be taking mine in Blush

ChrissieKeller61 · 18/04/2020 13:30

@hopsalong - those who've been tested and therefore we can conclude have some immunity can potentially return to normal. Thank goodness we are testing - oh wait

JonesyCat40 · 18/04/2020 13:32

Same as perniciousdot, I wouldn’t be letting mine go in until more information comes out on the virus. One of mine is mildly deaf and I’m afraid what the virus’s effect on her hearing will be and can’t find anything on the internet as yet.

paul20 · 18/04/2020 13:39

NO
My reason being it will be a breeding ground for covid 19 passed amongst children, then to other family members.
Way too soon in my opinion.

zingally · 18/04/2020 14:07

I'd be doing whatever the government advice says to do. I personally can't see schools opening by then, but they might surprise me.

Just listening to the news now.

Vaccine expert saying it’s even doubtful they will be able to develop a vaccine against this type of virus. It’s not the flu and we have no track record of vaccines in this area.

So when will it be safe to send your kids back to school? Not for a long time. What do you think the long term impact if the will be? Huge.

It won’t be safe any time soon.

Delatron · 18/04/2020 15:39

Impact of that will be

bettybattenburg · 18/04/2020 15:46

On the news yesterday somebody from Oxford Uni was saying they are expecting to have a vaccine by September, who is right? Who knows?

THe safety of the school environment isnt about the safety of children though only 0.06% of the deaths so far are under 19.

Its about making sure we know the impact of them being open to transmission

tootiredtoconga · 18/04/2020 15:54

I work in a school so will have no choice in the matter.

I think this article sums up my feelings on the matter better than I can

Yes many other vaccine experts are saying they’re well on their way to having one developed. Now I have no idea which one is right (as I’m no vaccine expert Wink) but one person saying something doesn’t make it so.

Quartz2208 · 18/04/2020 16:03

Yeah I think there is a further risk for teachers but Italy has 5% of it deaths under 60 England it is 8.5% so I think going forward that does need to be remembered. It is about protecting those that it will effect and transmission more than anything. So I think they will open up June/July time

Delatron · 18/04/2020 17:53

With regards to the vaccine yes hopefully we will have one and soon.

I was just a bit unnerved by the very competent sounding expert saying it’s not a given at all and it will be very tricky to develop a vaccine for this particular virus. I do hope he’s wrong as no vaccine and all this talk of no immunity is very worrying.

Quartz2208 · 18/04/2020 18:17

I dont think anyone has said no immunity - MERS I think is around 2 years. But I dont think they think it is long term

The WHO yesterday said no where near herd immunity. Italy they think is around 10% so far

Wheret0n0w · 27/04/2020 09:14

Why can’t I see the voting buttons. Have changed my settings inadvertently?? Undecided on whether I would send them to school
