Where have all the biblical classic films gone?

I know that Easter isn't celebrated by everyone but just as Elf etc. Is on every Christmas on TV where have all the grand biblical films from my youth gone? This was part of an Easter ritual in my household, sitting down to watch an epic marathon long film.
I really miss them and I'm sure many older than me do too.
Does anyone else miss them?

It is so long, 4 hours and 20 minutes I think! We both really enjoyed it though

Ben Hur is long as well.

3hr 44 min

Ten Commandments 3hr 40

The Robe comes in at a mere 2hr 15

We watched The Miracle Maker yesterday - on Amazon prime. It's my favourite biblical film. Ralph Fiennes voices Jesus.

I love Ben Hur

They used to be on at PEAK time, such as teatime on Easter Sunday, on one of the MAIN channels. I remember Jesus of Nazareth with Robert Powell being screened at that time. It doesn't happen any more.

Er, and I'm genuinely not trying to be offensive here, SuckingDieselFella, but why is this a problem? Said films still exist, yes? People are welcome to find them online and stream them as they please? They haven't been banned? So what does it matter if they aren't shown at PEAK time on MAIN channels? And no need to shout, by the way.

We live in an era of streaming when people watch what they want, when they want. Terrestrial scheduling is rapidly becoming irrelevant. Nothing to do with 'banning Christian films' Hmm, just supply and demand in a new age.

However, this thread has just reminded me I need to rewatch Life of Brian.

I'm with you all the way OP. This year there's been a few and just finished The Robe, but did you notice how dire it was last year? This has been the overall trend for years.

I love the epic wide screen shot films they are stunning and I love to sit with snacks and a glass of baileys to watch!

Yes I think religious films are on the wane, even at christmas some of the TV features nothing religious or anything necessarily christmassy even. Die Hard is a xmas movieConfused

@InsideOfEmptiness
Er I'm genuinely not trying to be offensive here but I was replying to another poster. Why would you want to take that out of context?

@cybercontroller The BBC don't make profits.

Just finished watching the Ten Commandments. Bloody great film, the three women posing on the rocks when the Red Sea parts is pure comedy gold.
