To ask if there's anything you'll miss about the LOCKDOWN once it's over?

The one thing I will miss is getting ready so quickly in the morning and not having to waste time putting makeup on or blow drying my hair!

The first week my face was detoxing and broke out in spots. I just applied a light No7 moisturiser and lip balm and now skin is completely clear and looks brighter for the 1st in years. Even DH has noticed! The dark circles under my eyes have also gone from all the extra sleep! I haven't bothered with applying serums etc to my hair either and that seems to have rejuvenated itself as well with more bounce and shine in it!

The amount of money we spend on these beauty products is crazy and this lockdown has made me wonder if we need any of them at all!

So what will you miss if anything?

@SimonJT your BF might not want to move out at all! One friend of mine has decided to try living together permanently directly as a result of her moving in with him for the lockdown. They've only been together 6 months but they've discovered they 'live' very well together, both are very tidy, love cleaning and are good cooks!

Not having to iron DH work shirts Grin

Most of all, I'll miss DH working from home. I love the extra hour with him at either end of the day, and lunch with him.

Also, I'll miss beautiful contrail-free skies, less road noise, more sense of community, and not having to spend a weekend with my inlaws every couple of months.

This hasn't been the easiest time - 6 months pregnant and an energetic 18 month old - but in many ways it's been a happy time for my little family. I feel a bit guilty about that knowing how much others are suffering.

The commute to work being 15 minutes rather than 45.

The clean air.

Sedona123 · 12/04/2020 16:51

I am enjoying having a break from the stress of the school run, extra curricular activities, homework, bath time, bedtime etc. Still keeping to a bit of a schedule, but not too worried if we have a movie night and bedtime is 10 pm instead of 8 ish.

We're now not creating a massive amount of laundry, and I'm not doing any ironing either. 😁

On the minus side though, our cleaner is now on paid holiday for the foreseeable future, and the house needs way more cleaning as we're all home all the time now.

I'll miss the dc very much (even though they need to get back to school), I'll miss the quiet roads and streets, not rushing around driving dc to various hobbies, not having to see my in-laws, a daily walk being a huge novelty.

I love not having to be anywhere at a certain time. I've realised that rushing the kids from place to place, is the cause of a lot of my life's stress.

I'm loving being at home with my children and watching the amazing bond they have together.

spinthebottle · 12/04/2020 17:04

Having my DP at home he often works away or works 14 hour days and I’m really loving him being home. It’s just so nice to share the childcare, cooking, cleaning etc as it all falls to me usually as he’s normally away. Even better that he’s appreciating what I do all day now! WinkGrin

Not having to wash or iron any uniform.

Not worrying about what we look like in regards to hair/ clothes. I've not bought any 'nice' summer clothes for the kids because we have no where to be! Just basic t-shirts/ shorts.

Cleaner air
Watching the environmental benefits
Sound of birds
Less traffic
Neighbours coming together
Zero social pressure
Quiet road and little road traffic (live on a busy through road)
Being able to cycle places without being worried I'm going to be knocked off my bike
Walking with DS and not being in toxic Black car smoke.

sanityisamyth · 12/04/2020 17:38

The quiet roads are lovely, as well as the cleaner air. Much slower way of life.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 12/04/2020 17:42

No cold-calling salemen or JWs!

transformandriseup · 12/04/2020 18:19

The quietness of the village, I can't hear any traffic. It's how I remember it back in the 90's.

TotesGodsWill · 12/04/2020 18:25

Not having to commute.

I’m working from home and do miss being in the office, but don’t miss the stressful commute, especially since the storms earlier this year made it a weekly occurrence that the trains just wouldn’t run at all.

BlessYourCottonSocks · 12/04/2020 18:27

Loads of things. Working from home, not having to get up so early. Not having a long commute. Not having the stress levels of work. Time to spend with DH and DS. Not having to deal with other people.

I clearly need to retire. Smile
