To ask if there's anything you'll miss about the LOCKDOWN once it's over?

The one thing I will miss is getting ready so quickly in the morning and not having to waste time putting makeup on or blow drying my hair!

The first week my face was detoxing and broke out in spots. I just applied a light No7 moisturiser and lip balm and now skin is completely clear and looks brighter for the 1st in years. Even DH has noticed! The dark circles under my eyes have also gone from all the extra sleep! I haven't bothered with applying serums etc to my hair either and that seems to have rejuvenated itself as well with more bounce and shine in it!

The amount of money we spend on these beauty products is crazy and this lockdown has made me wonder if we need any of them at all!

So what will you miss if anything?

No flight noise (I live under a flight path)
Cleaner air
Wildlife in garden
No pressure to do social things, birthday parties..
Not having to wear makeup or heels
Late mornings
Time to learn new things

I have been planning to do a couch to 5k and my Spanish exams for 5 years now, I am finally doing both!

Time with DParents

I will miss the almost litter free roadsides and pavements. On the other hand if the idiots that habitually chuck it out of their car windows realised after this period at home that they do actually have bins to take it back to just think how much cleaner our country could be.In fact we could press reset on so many unnecessary habits that degrade our quality of life. Not holding my breath sadly.

Butterfly98 · 12/04/2020 14:12

@StoutDrinker2019 that's a very good point. It will be interesting to see what we'll all do differently in the future as a result of the lockdown. We'll have good intentions but realistically we're creatures of habit. Will we try for a while before slowly going back to our old ways and habits? OR it could be the wake up call everyone needed!

Personally I think it will change the way big companies operate and more people will end up working from home permanently more than ever as they 'proved' they could do it during the lockdown. It would save a lot of money and the environment now that we have the technology to do so! Even radio DJ's, TV presenters and journalists don't 'have to' go into the studio anymore!

My son. He came home to work and it is wonderful to have someone to cook for and eat with.

Permanantlypuzzled · 12/04/2020 14:19

I’ll miss knowing I can relax in the certainty that nobody will think of “Just popping in to see you“
This isolation is bliss for us anti-social fuckers.

YeahWhatevver · 12/04/2020 14:24

Free time to slow down

Makes me realise how between morning rush, commute, job, school, after school clubs, dinner, Bath, bed we're all running round and not really having any quality time.

Then to compensate we spend money on stuff which is nice but should be a luxury rather than the norm

howmuchfood · 12/04/2020 14:25

Absolutely nothing at all. It's horrible.

cologne4711 · 12/04/2020 14:33

No pressure to do social things, birthday parties

Not exactly. People keep organising online quizzes and it's difficult to claim you're busy ;) I really would have to fall back on the "washing my hair" excuse.

I am liking the peace, not having to do any commuting (and saving the not inconsiderable amount of money) and the cleaner air.

To be honest I don't really mind lockdown that much, I just miss easy access to shops (and services, I am living with a rather temperamental heating system and just hoping it will survive until the end of lockdown), running with friends and parkrun, and I want to see my mum as I know she is quite lonely and bored at present.

SlipSlidin · 12/04/2020 14:42

I’m loving having adult dc living with us, we’re cooking lovely dinners, doing quizzes and karaoke, drinking wine in the garden, it’s bliss.

No bra, make up, high heels, tights to squeeze myself into every day.

Soapytoad · 12/04/2020 14:44

The roads being quiet! I’m a key worker and my 30 mile journey time has been slashed by half. It’s crazy!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 12/04/2020 14:50

The only thing I will miss is not having to set an alarm and being able to get up whenever I want (been on furlough for nearly 4 weeks now).

Other than that, nothing. I'm hating every minute of lockdown. DS and I are both very social and hate being stuck at home.

georgialondon · 12/04/2020 14:51

I'll miss spending all my time with my children

Myohmy111 · 12/04/2020 14:58

I will miss:
Not stressing about making sure my son gets to school on time;
Not bothering with make up;
Time to actually read at leisure;
Newly found practise of playing family games on a regular basis.

Exoffice · 12/04/2020 14:59

not having to commute and do the school runs. This takes up about 3h of my day.

I don't miss the social pressure. I've realised how busy I was before - running myself ragged. Definitely enjoying the slow pace of life.

Don't miss the in laws popping round expecting tea and dinner.

MyGirlDaisy · 12/04/2020 15:09

I will miss the quiet, the lack of traffic and roadside litter, the bird song, the cleaner air, the fact we are not under pressure to be somewhere at a certain time. I am getting more pleasure out of cooking, planning meals with what we have and what we can get, spending time with my adult children. Watching box sets on Netflix without feeling guilty.

Jiggeriepokerie · 12/04/2020 15:25

I'm making the most of having my 18 and 20 year old kids at home with us. It'll be the last time it'll happen for this amount of time. They're finding that they're friends rather than sworn enemies and I keep finding them huddled on the sofa together with the dog. I love it.

Working from home is more relaxing than working in the office. I can get more done in a shorter amount of time so I'm making the most of that and fitting in a run at lunchtime rather than the 15 minute dash to the microwave, scoff lunch and then back to my desk. I do miss my walk to work though.

I'm missing my friends but we're getting together virtually a lot more. Zoom pub sessions are fab!

MrsZola · 12/04/2020 15:28

Not having to do anything I don't want to - within the lockdown restrictions obviously! No expectations on my time - it's mostly my own.

Lizadork · 12/04/2020 15:31

Lack of cars. The quiet. The fact our removal helps nature.

SimonJT · 12/04/2020 15:37

I’ll miss how much time we have together, my boyfriend moved in with us for lockdown, I’m going to miss him when we go back to seeing each other twice a week.

Tumbleweed101 · 12/04/2020 15:37

I will miss the calm. No school runs, lazy days without feeling guilty that I should be doing something else.

I’ve actually really loved the slower pace.

SparkyBlue · 12/04/2020 15:48

I'll miss the stress free mornings and afternoons. I love no rushing about for school at 8.30 and no school collections in the afternoon. I have a Montessori collection at 11.45 and then my seven year old finishes at 2.10 so at the moment the one year old is having a great uninterrupted afternoon nap which never normally happens.

RuthW · 12/04/2020 16:15

I will miss relaxing evenings and weekends. I'm loving staying in when I'm not working.
