Gift for a new mother?

My friend is due to have her first baby at the end of next month. I want to get the baby a gift or two (I'd post it of course due to distancing measures).
However I would like to include a little gift for the mother to be - would someone be able to give me any suggestions?
I do not have children so not sure what is an would be an ideal gift for a new mum!
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I did a hamper for my SIL full of useful and practical things for both her and baby. For mum in particular as well as the practical stuff I also included some chocolates, miniature bottle of wine, some lovely bath stuff, body oils / moisturiser etc.

What’s your budget?

Some lovely pump action hand cream might be good, she’ll be washing her hands loads.

I got given a lot of booze, top tip, don't give lots of booze

It's lovely but I don't really drink anyway and plan on EBF so won't drink for at least another 6 months.

I always give a lovely blanket for cosying under during night feeds. And a huge bar of chocolate.

Chocolate, snacks, maybe an outfit for when the baby is bigger?

Hand cream, luxury shower stuff, food/snacks.

I was given some fancy shower products and body lotions from a couple people after baby was born and it was a lovely treat after giving birth. A nice water bottle that’s easy to drink from holding a baby would be great too.

It’s really nice that you’re thinking of gifts just for her, My best friend sent me a 3 month subscription to readily which is an app that lets you read loads of different magazines- which was fab to have something to browse through during the long night feeds. Another great gift was a voucher for a manicure at a local salon, valid for a year, something for me to look forward to when I was easy to leave the baby.

I guess it really depends on what she likes...

The two things I really appreciated post-birth were food (snacks, chocolate, homemade meals, etc) and high-quality hand moisturiser.

You can buy "new mum" specific hampers- I sent one to my friend around her due date. It had things like body oil, nice stuff for the bath/shower, a magazine, some chocolates, lip balm. I ordered it from Etsy.

A nice fancy hand cream is good as you are constantly washing your hands. Bubble bath / bath oil. An insulated water bottle you can drink from one handed ! A coffee cup ditto. Voucher for a pedicure (with a long date on it!) - my fingernails always get trashed from the hand washing laundry etc but it's nice to have lovely feet.

I would usually say COOK vouchers to get a nice meal that they don't have to cook themselves. COOK shops ar still open but I dont know how they would feel.about going there during lockdown

If she likes tea or coffee then I'd recommend a good travel mug (bodum steel one perhaps) as then a hope of a hot drink with them being hot a while and harder to spill ..... mine has been invaluable through my 2 little ones

Really nice black leggings - great for slouching about in at home for first few weeks

Nice shower gel ( not bubble bath ) as when you are tender a shower is more manageable and quicker

A ‘mum’ mug. Sometimes when you are very tired you need your brew from a mum mug which reminds you why you’re doing it all. Also clarins hand cream and chocolate.

A voucher for a manicure or pedicure/some kind of pampering, accompanied with the offer to babysit whilst she enjoys the treatment. So she can have a little bit of "me time" but only when she feels ready to leave the baby.

Insulated tea mug it nice water bottle definitely. Indulgent one handed snacks.
Best gift I got were some decent pyjama bottoms, very comfy and could answer the door in them :)

Nipple cream, chocolate, prosecco, some. Big pants, pj's, non spill coffee cup....

And to pp, you absolutely can drink and breastfeed - enjoy that booze!
