How dangerous Trump with hi Hydrowhatsit taking. In Paris they did tests on it with patients, and the results were not good. At our press briefing today, I think Raab or Hancock need to refer to this and strongly discourage anyone in the UK from taking it.

Nancy Pelosi throws some shade at Trump, just love it.

'Nancy Pelosi on Trump saying he's taking hydroxychloroquine: "He's our president and I would rather he not be taking something that has not been approved by the scientists, especially in his age group and in his, shall we say, weight group -- morbidly obese, they say."

AuldAlliance · 19/05/2020 08:20

If he is lying, it's extremely reckless, as it will encourage people to follow suit despite the clear risks.
The fact people presume POTUS is lying on air about sth like this just confirms how bad things are, TBH.

Of course, it gives him a escape route if people become severely ill because they take the drug. He'll just say he was messing with the press.

Various reports suggest he might not be:

"The President's physician, Navy Cmdr. Sean Conley, alluded in a memo released Monday night to Trump's personal valet testing positive two weeks ago for coronavirus. While Conley didn't say directly that Trump started taking hydroxychloroquine in response to the valet testing positive, the timing mentioned by Trump and the positive test match up.
"After numerous discussions, he and I had regarding the evidence for and against the use of hydroxychloroquine, we concluded the potential benefit from treatment outweighed the relative risks," Conley wrote, adding that Trump has taken multiple tests for coronavirus all negative and remains symptom free."

Roussette · 19/05/2020 08:51

I think him saying this is very bad, given it was the lead story on the BBC!

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 19/05/2020 10:23

In what world would you expect the President of the USA to do this, though?
"Of course, it gives him a escape route if people become severely ill because they take the drug. He'll just say he was messing with the press."

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 19/05/2020 10:37

"He said the White House physician "didn't recommend" hydroxychloroquine but offered it to him."

Maybe she is trying to help us all by ridding the world of a dangerous menace, but deniably since she let him have it against her advice?

AuldAlliance · 19/05/2020 11:01

Jaichangécentfoisdenom
I know, it's batshit crazy.
I suppose the answer is that it happens in a world where we are inclined to presume the President of the US might openly lie during a live press conference, the midst of a global crisis, because he has lied so many times before. And never been held to account.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime
The physician quoted is a man, Sean Conley.

Lweji · 19/05/2020 11:11

More seriously, the WH physician may well be giving him hydroxychloroquine in small amounts. Not enough to cause any effect or side effect. Like a placebo to placate him.
Or he's just lying.

This reminds me of Saddam Hussein. I still have a niggling feeling that he was convinced by his generals that they had indeed WMD and greater military capacity.

Hey Donald, if you're so convinced that Hydroxy C is great, why not take a double dose.
Wash it down with a lysol chaser

Seems not everyone is happy about Trump's random moves jumping in to help Pompeo

Grassley demands Trump explain firing of State Department inspector general
thehill.com/homenews/senate/498337-grassley-demands-trump-explain-firing-of-state-department-inspector-general

Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, the most senior Republican in the Senate, is pressing President Trump to explain why he fired the State Department inspector general, noting that Trump's notice on Friday that he would remove Steve Linick after 30 days did not include an explanation as required by law.

Grassley in a letter to Trump Monday warned inspectors general "should be free from partisan political interference, from either the Executive or Legislative branch."

He is asking Trump to "provide a detailed reasoning" for the removal of Linick no later than June 1.
.....
Grassley in his letter to Trump Monday also noted that the president has not responded to another letter sent April 8 asking for a "more detailed reasoning" as to why he removed Michael Atkinson as inspector general of the intelligence community.

Atkinson, who was fired in early April, later said he was terminated because he informed Congress of a whistleblower complaint against Trump that went on to serve as the basis of his impeachment in the House and trial in the Senate.

Grassley had given Trump an April 13 deadline to respond to his query about Atkinson..

The senator noted Monday that the Senate attached a report to the 2003 IG Reform Act clarifying that a "high bar" is expected to remove an inspector general.

The report stated that the law requires presidents to explain their reasons for removing a department watchdog "to ensure that inspectors general are not removed for political reasons."

B1rdbra1n · 19/05/2020 12:47

'Provide a detailed reasoning'
🤣😂😅
Can you imagine the word salad that would emerge from the puckered opening in his face, how many times would he repeat the phrase 'lotta people say'

Roussette · 19/05/2020 13:01

B1rd or
a man said to me.... he said "Sir, I can't begin to tell you what a difference blah blah blah, you gave me back my life blah blah". Then the man usually starts crying.

Trump's 'Sir' stories are legendary. And when he uses them we just know he's lying.

lionheart · 19/05/2020 13:12

@Roussette I'm always amazed at "all these people called me"...
Where do they get his direct phone number?

Roussette · 19/05/2020 14:27

Bruce or he just bumps into them in the corridor or in the street. Yeah..... sure....

They do always call him 'Sir' though. And they often cry. Grin

AcrossthePond55 · 19/05/2020 15:26

You notice he didn't say "What do I have to lose", he said "What do you have to lose".

He's not taking it, he's trying to trick others into taking it. And besides IIRC it was never touted as a 'preventative', it's 'supposedly' to lessen the severity of the course of disease. So why would he start taking it before he tests positive? A total load of bullshit, of course. But 'follow the money' because he or some member of his family (or Jared's) is making money off the sales of it.

Trump is now giving the WHO 30 days to prove its worth.
Imagine The President having to do the same... Hmm

B1rdbra1n · 19/05/2020 17:23

he said "What do you have to lose"
the reply should be, 'and what does trumptydumpty have to gain'Hmm

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 19/05/2020 19:44

The answer is "your life".

lionheart · 19/05/2020 20:56

To be fair, this would pain him and give his PR the jitters.

Trump is touring Ford factory in Michigan on Thursday and he's been told he must wear a mask.

Could be interesting. He probably thinks a mask is a sign of weakness.
