What happens if people simply don't turn up to work in these factories? I mean, does Trump reckon he has the power to force labour?

lionheart · 29/04/2020 21:28

I saw this earlier and honestly (not for the first time) thought it was a parody.

All profits donated, eh.

Donated to whom?

Those "commemorative" medals Shock - definition of crass. (Donations or not)

Roussette · 29/04/2020 22:10

I am actually speechless on the commemorative coins. 60,000 dead, more dying and they bring out a coin of the event to flog.

Shocking, absolutely shocking

talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/wtf-is-the-white-house-gift-shop-a-tpm-special-report

From the article:

"The White House Gift Shop is a private, for-profit company based in Lancaster Country, Pennsylvania. It has no connection to the White House, the Secret Service or any part of the US government."

AcrossthePond55 · 29/04/2020 22:44

I couldn't believe the horrendous shit they were selling so I had to go 'digging'. I couldn't believe the US Govt would have such a blatantly partisan 'gift shop' with such crass and vulgar items for sale.

You could plug my gob with one of those "coins", 'cos that's the shape it's making just now.

Trump claims China will 'do anything' to stop his re-election as coronavirus row escalates

Donald Trump has claimed that China’s handling of the coronavirus is proof that Beijing “will do anything they can” to make him lose his re-election bid in November.

In an interview with Reuters, the US president said he was looking at different options in terms of consequences for Beijing over the virus. “I can do a lot,” he said, without going into detail.

Trump has increasingly blamed China for the pandemic and on Wednesday again said Beijing should have let the world know about the coronavirus much sooner. He also speculated about retaliation: “There are many things I can do,” he said. “We’re looking for what happened.”

For the first time, Trump linked Beijing to his re-election chances in November. “China will do anything they can to have me lose this race,” he said, adding that he believed China wants his Democratic opponent, Joe Biden, to win the race to ease the pressure on US-China trade relations.

“They’re constantly using public relations to try to make it like they’re innocent parties,” he said of Chinese officials.

Many things, a lot of people, a lot of people say, soon, very soon🙄
All that comes out of his mouth is fluffy word salad, and then he makes that hand gesture🙄

So... According to the Dirty Don, China has deliberately started a pandemic which has tanked their economy, killed several million people and brought much of the world to a standstill

in order to prevent the re-election of the Dirty Don.

He really does think he is the only thing anyone thinks about, doesn't he?

In reality, of course, the Chinese government thinks, and has always thought, more than five years ahead: they take the long view, especially now they have a president-for-life who will rightly regard Little Donny as ephemeral.

Lweji · 30/04/2020 12:09

In his box, the US are doing really well, this is nothing and it will soon go to zero (recent quote) AND China is responsible for the mess the US is in.

Quite impressive that he can coexist in two realities.

Lweji · 30/04/2020 12:13

Ahem, it hasn't killed several million, not yet. "Just" about 220 thousand.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 30/04/2020 12:13

Mind you, he also says "I don’t believe the polls. I believe the people of this country are smart. And I don’t think that they will put a man in who’s incompetent."

They already have.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 30/04/2020 12:17

Lweji

True, it hasn't killed them yet. But it has barely got started: a lot of countries with no resilience and with precious little health service of any kind (and hospitals which have been deliberately bombed to bits by America's allies, in some cases) have yet to begin their troubles, and the same for all the concentration camps ("displaced person's camps") around the world with naff all sanitation and hygiene.

lionheart · 30/04/2020 12:19

Yep. The evidence suggests otherwise.

I had his round table with business leaders on yesterday. Some of the CEOs sounded very sussed to me.

Trump seemed surprised and amazed at having recently seen queues outside supermarkets. Sounded like it was the first time he'd seen this.

He used this as "proof" that there is pent up demand for reopening and for buying things other than food. What money will they use when things do open? Why, those handouts from the government!

Also he demonstrated his business nous by Trump-splaining to reporters that if a restaurant had fewer customers it would take less money. Confused

I was recently given a small joke:

How can you tell President Trump is lying?
He's not yet dead.
